That night, the four of us, Toosk, Wayne, Mitty, and I were standing on the cliff, looming over the headquarters of Pierre.
"Alright, we're gonna separate into two groups," Toosk started, staring ahead of him; he turns to his right where Wayne and Mitty were standing at. "Mitty, Wayne, you two are gonna be together--" He turned his head over to me. "You will stay with me."
I nodded my head. "Okay."
"What's our mission here, Toosk?" Mitty asked.
"We find out the plans Pierre has...see what he's up to, if he is still up to pursue us or not."
"Sounds good." She smirked. "And if the plans are tangible, I'll make sure I get them."
"Good idea," the leader told her. "Alright, guys, let's go."
After we slid down the slope that was below the cliff and dusted ourselves off, we looked up at the one-story, white building that was now looming over us.
Toosk turned to Wayne and Mitty. "We'll take the front, you guys take the back, okay?"
"Alright, we're on that." Wayne nodded his head and began walking away from us with Mitty following him.
Toosk gazed at me. "Let's go." He then began to make his way up the steps gingerly, making sure not to make any sounds that could give us away.
I remembered what happened last time I ran up the stairs, so I followed him from behind, making sure to be extra slow to not create any sounds.
Toosk creaked one of the doors opened and peered inside. He then looked behind his shoulder and motioned me to advance ahead of him.
I slipped through the door, past him, with my gun pointed ahead of me while resting on my shoulder. I all I saw was darkness filling up the hallway since there were no lights on nor any windows. But I was used to the darkness since I lived in the forest where when the night fell, darkness couldn't be defeated that easily.
But what if someone came out of nowhere and got me...or Toosk?
The thought of that shuddered me in fear. I couldn't see anything, it was like as if I was blindfolded, and if something like that did happen, then it would be too late to prevent it.
Images then popped into my mind of the forest in the nighttime, yet the mental images seemed clear, showing me what was around the picture perfectly, like as if I had night vision...
That's right, I thought to myself. Maybe I can use part of my powers to get better vision... I then closed my eyes while keeping a slow and steady pace, concentrating on bringing my power flow over to my eyes to gain better vision. I blinked them opened, noticing that my vision was enhanced, making it seem like there was the moon above me, casting its moonlight over my surroundings to show me what I was walking through: a hallway, of course, but lined against those walls were men who seemed like they were guards. And they were looking at us.
I quickly spun around on my heels while putting my gun down to my side and grabbed Toosk's shoulder with my free hand hastily. "We have got to get outta here!" I hissed between my teeth. "Now!"
Tuukka had a horrid look on his face. "Captain, your eyes, they're yellow--"
"There're people spying on us!" I snapped quietly. "They're lined against the walls, it's too dark to see them with normal vision!"
"People?" He made a bewildered look. "Where--?"
A light blasted from the ceiling, casting its glow on top of us like as if we were in the spotlight.
I pulled away from Toosk, spotting that the people on the walls were now circled around us, surprisingly unarmed.
I blinked, adjusting my vision back to normal since there was a light now. "We're so busted," I muttered.
"Not until we put up a fight." Toosk rose his right arm in the air, showing his gun-arm.
I slowly pulled my gun back up to my shoulder and aimed it at the guy in front of me.
Suddenly, I heard a blast coming from the right; the guy who was next to my target disappeared in a blast of blue energy.
"You got yourselves a fight," the dude in front of me told us darkly.
I recognized the voice from somewhere else. I scrambled through my mind, figuring out where it was from. Then I finally remembered which led me to remember who this dude was: the guy who I yelled at for waking me up due to loud music. We meet face to face once again.
The guy extended his arms out from both sides with his hands extended as far as they can extend. Suddenly, his hands began to blur black despite the fact he wasn't wearing any gloves; it was like as if he was shaking his hands with super speed. The other guys that surrounded us began gliding towards him as if he was a vacuum sucking up whatever was light in weight and near him. The other guys began to blur from head to toe as they got near the main dude; then when they made contact with him, they were blurred into him, like as if they teleported through him.
Once it was just the three of us alone in the room, the guy dipped his head down, then looked up at us, revealing a pair of glowing white eyes.
My eyes widened. Oh dear, who are we up against?
He then extended a hand out at me, unleashing a streak of light blue chunks of ice.
The streak hit me and I flew across the hallway, slamming into the wall that was behind me. I tried to get up, but it felt like the wall was embracing me. I gazed down at myself, realizing that there was ice around my torso, attached onto the wall. Oh shoot, how could I get out
I gazed up and saw that Toosk was putting up a better fight than me: He dropped down onto his knees and hands as the opponent emitted white, tangled lightning bolts in his direction.
Wait, but didn't he just shoot ice at me? I looked ahead of me on the ground, spotting my gun about a foot away from me. I reached for it then slammed the back edge of it against the ice, letting it explode into blocks of smaller ice.
I got up to my feet quickly and aimed at the guy, cocking the gun; I then fired a shot at the guy.
The guy put his hand out in front of the bullet's direction; the bullet stopped in midair, then simply dropped onto the tile flooring, useless.
This guy must have multiple powers! my mind shouted mentally.
"Captain, watch out!!!" I heard Toosk yell at me.
I gazed ahead of me, seeing a thick blast of water rushing towards me. I stuck my gun out horizontally, blocking the water from getting to me. I pushed forward, but my boots didn't have that strong of a grip to hold onto the smooth flooring. I felt my heels hit the bottom edge of the wall as I pressed forward with my full force. I furrowed my eyebrows and leaned forward, directing all my weight and strength towards my hands and gun to fend off the water. I then got an idea.
With a deep breath, I threw myself to the left, diving out from the water's direction. I immediately got up as the person kept spraying at the wall, thinking I was still there.
I rushed towards the person with my gun out backwards as the person noticed that I wasn't in his target range and stopped using his powers. I then went behind him and whacked the gun across the back his head, knocking him to the ground cold.
I looked down at him while breathing hard. I then gazed around my surroundings, noticing that Toosk was gone.
"Toosk‽" I shouted. "Toosk, where did you go‽"
"He's right here, Captain," a familiar voice told me from behind.
I spun around, seeing Lace standing there in the dimness with Toosk next to him; my friend had his head down and his hands behind his back, like as if he was ready to be thrown into a jail cell. "Are you gonna attempt to save him...or let the full moon get to you?"
A confused look grew on my face. "Full moon get to me...?" It then clicked in my mind. Oh my goodness, it's full moon tonight... Any moment, it'll come... I felt myself go num for a moment. Save Toosk...or save myself?
"Captain...what are you so afraid of?" Toosk asked me while gazing at me with worry in his eyes. "You can do it."
I shook my head with wide eyes. "No, I-I can't let you see my powers-- I have to go." I then ran out of the building and into the night right before I felt the moon get to me.
