Pierre led me down the now empty hallways and after a few turns a straightaways, we halted in front of a door that camouflaged well with the wall. He pushed the door opened and walked inside; I followed him in.
It was a circular room with white walls and ceiling similar to the hallway's, but the floor was made out of steel plates with patterned holes in them, letting me be able to see what was below them, which was darkness. To the left of the room was a table with many scraps of metal on it; and to the right were my friends. They were chained to the wall by their ankles and hands; the cuffs covered fully both of their hands. But they weren't completely against the wall, they were slumping down to the ground since their chains were nailed low toward the ground. Toosk was in the middle, Wayne on the left side, and Mitty on the right side; they all gazed at me with pleading and shocked eyes as I walked into the room.
My eyes widened as I saw them all chained up. I need to get them out! I then turned to Pierre, who was looming down at them with an insidious smirk. But Pierre's here...I can't do it with him here... If only I can take over his mind with our connection. I halted my thinking there due to the blurred thoughts that were beginning to rise in my mind. I gripped onto my gun hard, trying to push the odd feeling aside.
"Ah, this moment," Pierre began saying, "this moment we are all here...all gathered today to see my plans finally being accomplished." He shot his hands over to his chest. "Oh, this feeling I'm getting...it's so reliving to know that the time as come."
I felt springing notes of hope and joy flowing through me. No, no, I can't be happy, I need to save them! my mind shouted out loud mentally. But I couldn't help but feel blithesome; it was odd though, having the painful thought of needing to free my friends from a perilous situation while feeling ebullient at the same exact time; it made me feel like as if I was bipolar. Maybe I can make Pierre feel sorry for them? But the joy Pierre was experiencing was obviously overpowering my own feelings.
"This is the day," Pierre continued, clasping his hands behind his back while pacing back and forth, parallel to the wall his hostages were chained against, "where your missions end, where you surrender to me." He halted with his walking and spun on his heels, facing them. "I am aware that all you guys know how to escape from my trap, but with the extra energy I have acquired, your way of escaping will not be enough to come back to reality." He then looked over his shoulder to face me. "I am going to spare your friend here, since he's a different breed." He turned back to face them. "He's under another different treatment: the treatment of being connected." He place his pointer finger against his temple for a few seconds. "So don't worry about him--don't worry about anything. You guys will be way more than in good hands. You guys will completely forget about this moment here once I take you to your alternative universe. You won't care for the world, won't care to go back to this reality... Who's ready to go to paradise?"
Toosk narrowed his eyes. "You're making a big mistake here, Pierre," he growled.
Pierre cocked an eyebrow. "Try saying that when you're in the alternative universe."
I gazed at Toosk, witnessing him suddenly thrusting his head down with his eyes squeezed shut and his teeth being bared.
I then immediately feel a sharp pain explode through my brain, like as if a box full of double-pointed knives bursted in the middle of my head. "AHCK!" I dropped my gun and clutched both of my hands onto my head as the pain kept whizzing through my mind, making it feel tense and numb. I dipped my head down and shutted my eyes, attempting to deal with this appalling agony I was experiencing. I gritted my teeth, breathing hard through them as I felt myself beginning to weaken due to the intense pain. I letted myself collapse to my knees as I dug my fingertips into my hair, pulling on the strands to try to divert my attention from the pain, put the agony was on the edge of being overbearing. I began breathing harder, sensing that my heart rate getting faster, feeling my hands getting sweaty. I swallowed between some of my breaths, trying to take hold of the pain and see how to work through it.
It was like as if someone thrusted a boulder into my head, blasting it into billions of pieces.
Like as if someone took more than dozen knives and slid them through my head.
Like as if my head was about to explode from too many needles.
From too much agony.
I fell onto my back with hands still clutched onto my head, attempting to thwart the pain away, but it was useless.
I need to stop this, I can't handle it, how could someone go through this, I can't-I can't, I managed to think.
I snapped my eyes open, sensing that the pain was so great, it was near my eyes since I felt a tense sensation around them. I then darted my eyes up to see Pierre's back behind me as he was still facing Toosk, who looked like he was still in a lot of pain, trying to fight back his step-brother's powers.
He can't see me...I gotta stop this pain, how much longer...? I then rolled over to my stomach, placing my hands flat on the ground with my forehead on top of them. I letted out a shuttered whimper as the pain kept on growing. I'm gonna die! my mind screamed mentally. I'm gonna die! I want him to die! I want this to stop happening! I'm done! Stop all this!
I lifted my head up a bit with my eyebrows slanted upward, spotting my gun a few inches away from me.
"AHHHHHH!!!" I swiped my weapon off from the ground and pointed it at Pierre. Being blinded by pain and fury, I cocked it and pulled the trigger.
After the loud ringing sound of the bullet began fading away, Pierre fell down face flat onto the ground with a huge, red splotch growing on his back.
The mental pain immediately drained out of existence. I felt my heart pumping harder as my eyes grew wide. "I-I..." I couldn't even speak, I was so speechless at what I did. I killed him...Pierre's dead. I snapped my eyes up more ahead of me, seeing Toosk gawking at me.
"I'm gonna get you guys...!" I croaked as I began pushing myself up to my feet; I immediately stumbled back onto my stomach. I tried getting up, but I felt the strength in my body beginning to fade away. Why can't I get up? Before I was able to think some more, I began coughing out blood.
"Captain, you're bleeding from behind!" I heard Mitty shout at me.
I forced the liquid to stop rising in my throat for a bit as I stared at the blood-splattered ground. I'm dying...
"Help us, Captain, you can do it!" I heard Wayne encouraging me.
I letted more blood escape from my mouth violently. I need to help them before I die... I lightly wiped my mouth with my sleeve, noticing that I was about a foot away from them. I then looked to my right and saw my gun in my reach. So I slowly reached for it as I felt my energy draining from me and skidded it toward them before more blood came out from my mouth with harsh sounds.
I then laid my face against the floor uselessly. I heard the sharp clanging sounds of chains being broken free as I felt the world around me beginning to fade away and my vision turning black.
