Moments laterMyron, David, and the man made their way toward the old shrine at the edge of the village. The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows across the path and giving the surroundings an eerie, almost foreboding atmosphere. The air grew cooler, and the sounds of the village gradually faded away, replaced by the rustling of leaves and the distant hoot of an owl.
"This way," the man said, his voice trembling with anxiety as he led them through a narrow trail. "The shrine is just up ahead. Please... you must hurry."
David glanced at Myron, his expression serious. "We need to be ready for anything. Who knows what kind of demon we might be dealing with."
Myron nodded, his hand resting on the hilt of his Nichirin Sword. "Agreed. Let's stay alert and be prepared for whatever comes our way."
As they approached the old shrine, the trees grew denser, and the path became more rugged. The shrine itself was small and weathered, with overgrown vines creeping up its walls. The area was eerily quiet, as if the very air held its breath in anticipation.
"This is it," the man whispered, pointing to the shrine. "She was playing around here before she disappeared."
Myron scanned the area, his senses heightened. "David, check the perimeter. I'll search around the shrine."
David nodded and moved off to survey the surroundings, his own sword at the ready. Myron stepped closer to the shrine, his eyes narrowing as he looked for any signs of disturbance or clues that might indicate the presence of a demon.
"Caw! Be careful, Myron. This place gives me the creeps," Tori squawked, her usually brash tone tinged with worry.
"I know, Tori. Stay sharp," Myron replied softly, moving cautiously around the shrine.
Suddenly, David called out, "Myron, over here! I found something!"
Myron quickly made his way to David's side. "What is it?"
David pointed to the ground where a small, torn piece of fabric lay among the leaves. It was a piece of a child's dress, dirt-stained and frayed at the edges.
"This must be from the missing girl," David said, his expression grim.
Myron picked up the fabric, his jaw tightening. "She's close. We need to find her and the other kids before it's too late."
David turned to the man, giving him a serious and determined look. "Sir, you should go back home and don't come out. It's not safe out here."
"But... What about my daughter?" The man said desperately, his voice filled with worry.
"Don't worry. We'll find her and the other children. I promise," Myron said, giving him a reassuring smile. The man hesitated for a moment before turning and running back to the village.
David turned back to Myron and said, "Okay, now that the man is gone, we should keep looking for more clues and whereabouts."
"Yeah, that's a good idea. It's best to get some stuff off our chest," Myron agreed.
"Also, Myron, when we encounter the demon, there's something really cool I want to show you," David added, a hint of excitement in his voice.
Myron raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? What is it?"
David grinned, his eyes lighting up. "You'll see. Just make sure to watch closely."
They continued their search, moving further into the dense forest surrounding the shrine. The atmosphere grew more oppressive, and the sense of danger heightened with each step. Myron and David's senses were on high alert, their eyes scanning every shadow and movement.
