alice as a child did not remember the love from her mother.she was always envious of other children who had mothers they could rely on. mothers who would physically comfort them. mothers who spoke to them words she hadn't heard from her mother in a few years.
at alice's first day of school in korea, she noticed all the mothers sending off their children to school. many gave kisses while hugging them tightly.
alice's father did not even send alice to school. he sent a worker to send alice for him.
back in new york, alice despised anyone with a loving mother. she started bullying the kids around her, all because they had the one thing she lost.
being in another place, alice still had the same urges. she all the potential victims she could insult, punch, laugh at. how could they be so affectionate with their mothers in front of her?
she spotted a girl who looked similar to her. long dark hair, slim build, same pink backpack, same brand of black shoes. one of the only differences was that this girl had bangs.
the girl was talking to her mother, who was kneeling down at her height rubbing her arm. her mother had a soft and caring smile. the smile reminded alice of her mother's. alice could feel her eyes starting to water.
she watched as the girl's mother gave her a tight hug before the girl started to walk towards the school. in that moment, alice had a horrible thought. her next "victim."
but this time, alice had to play smart.
once the girl was in reach, alice skipped towards her, which quickly grabbed her attention. alice kept eyeing her mother, seeing that she was watching her daughter walk into the school.
alice smiled at the girl, "hi! i'm alice!"
the girl returned a smile. "i'm eunhee!"
alice widened her smile to show that she liked eunhee. she eyed eunhee's mother one last time, who had a bright smile seeing her daughter make a friend.
"let's be friends, eunhee!"

friends?-
sunghoon giggled.
"what?" alice asked. he cleared his throat "hi, sunghoon! what's your favourite colour?"
alice gave him a puzzled look. sunghoon quickly glanced at alice, chuckling as he looked back onto the rainy road. "out of all questions, that's what you want to ask?"
she hissed, feeling both embarrassed and defeated. "we-well... i thought you guys were... uh... on.. on-on... a date!" she blurted out, making sunghoon plaster a confused look.
"and-and there are.. rumours! of you guy-guys dating at school so... i just assumed you... guys were... dating..." alice gulped.
sunghoon laughed at alice's assumption.
"also... i've-i've seen... you know... the way you look at eunhee... it's different from how you look at others..."
"i guess that look is from not enjoying her presence."
alice sighed. "is it?"
"i'd never like that girl."
"really?" alice questioned. "you guys have been bickering since freshman year... but you guys never tried to be kind to each other."
sunghoon avoided eye contact with alice, keeping his eyes straight ahead. alice spoke again, "how can you assume you won't like her if you don't try to see her good qualities? i mean... she's smart, pretty, nice... to most people."
