"And if I catch even one of you pulling the same shit that Paldworth did last year, you bet your rich little asses that you're being pulled from the Langdon trip. No discussion about it."

Mrs Avelly says looking closely at Wes, who is putting on the fakest innocent expression I've seen in a while from him. Mrs Avelly – or Avelly as she lets us call her – and Wes have spent more time in detention together than all of us participating in this dumb switch thing combined. And I'm saying that while staring at Rider Knox probably the only person here more irresponsible than Wes. He's recently learnt the trick of not getting caught and I think it's working for him. Before last month he had the record of the most detentions in the schools history.

Wes is catching up now.

"Of course Avelly," Wes smiles. "I would never insult a student or staff member." A pointed look. "Or pull the same stunt Paldworth did either." He leans over to me muttering. "He really should be called Baldworth."

A chuckle escapes me before I can help it and Avelly's attention snaps to me. "I'm assuming you will keep Reed in line and not join his shenanigans?" she tilts her head to Wes who's turned his head to look out the window.

"Oh look a butterfly!"

"Wesley Reed."

"Oh no its dead. Yes Miss?"

I smirk. "I'll keep him in check."

"Good." She looks around to the group. Me Wes, Rider, Rachel Smyth; a minion of the anti-Christ, and Noah Thornwell; probably the only sensible one of us all. We all seem to pass whatever inspection she was doing in her head before she nods and shoots one last deadly look at Wes.

"Relax Avelly, the last thing I want to do it make everyone in there bald. It'd be too boring to do the same trick twice. That's why I'm thinking of something much worse to do instead. Like dyeing them all purple."

"If you weren't my nephew..."

"I'd what? Be your son?"

"You'd be six feet under, and I'd be comforting your mother at the funeral," she mutters pushing past him towards the door.

"You know you love me Auntie Sara. Its why I'm coming over for dinner tonight with mom."

The look on Avelly's face has us all launching into a fit of laughter as she opens the door, and we step inside.

Poor Avelly.

Her face instantly brightens when she see the five students lounging on the chairs in comfort. The blonde one they introduced on Friday as Bella, is attached to her phone talking into it like it might be the last time she ever does, the two guys of the group Mason and Dylan are sitting on the couch and chatting to each other seemingly getting to know the other before they're shoved into a whole new school. And the final two are sitting in the armchairs. The grumpy one, Annika – who now has purple hair – is shaking her hands and muttering to the last person; Maevie. She's sitting there smiling politely at Annika. I can already feel the practiced and precise energy. Like she needs to be the smartest in the room at all times.
