「 Kaden 」
They've been smiling.
I've watched them for the past few days. Given them a false sense of security. They've stopped looking over their shoulders. Well the purple freak has. The quiet one is constantly looking over her shoulder.
We've watched them for a week now, playing it low. No one would expect us to be behind anything. Just like how no one would expect them to be behind the damage done to our cars.
I clench my jaw at the thought of that. Dad was enraged. He demanded to find out who had ruined the cars and then have them compensate double the cost just for daring to mess with me. I didn't give either of their names up – not because I was feeling merciful – but because I wanted them to suffer my way.
I push through the crowd and watch as Annika comes to a stop in front of the painted wall. Her eyes are wide with fury as she stares up at the printed picture of her and Knight, with 'x's painted over their faces.
She knows what this means.
My eyes instantly scan the crowd for her companion. The quiet yet fierce eyes I've watched recently, are nowhere to be seen at first glance. But I sweep my gaze over the crowd again and I see her. She's blending in well, but her eyes are angry and alight with indignation. Clearly she's spent years hiding from the eyes of everyone else, spent years staying hidden in the crowd, never standing out. She can't hide from me. Not now that I've seen her.

The painted wall is a spectacle for the entire day, as much as teachers try and dissuade students from looking or going near it, they're no match for pushy rich girls who want to giggle at the sight and then go find the said girls on the wall to giggle at them. Both of them have avoided going anywhere they don't need to, carefully staying out of sight.
Well the purple obsessed one has been trying to pick fights all day, but Knight keeps pulling her back and keeping her in check. Neither of them seems to be having a nice time.
Normally I would feel bad for whoever has caught the scrutiny of Rachel and her minions but not this time. These girls brought this on themselves, you make the mistake you pay the price.
Neither of whom I'm assuming are happy about that.
When Avelly finally makes it to the scene, at lunch her attention zeros in on Wes instantly. She stalks over and stops in front of him narrowing her eyes. "Was this you?"
Wes smiles innocently. "Not this time."
Avelly looks at me for confirmation, "he's telling the truth, we were at swim practice all morning." I'm not lying either. We personally didn't do it. Doesn't mean we didn't organise it and have freshman who are all too eager to please us to execute it.
Sighing she shoots Wes a suspicious look again, "I'm watching you Wesley Reed." She looks around and frowns again. "Where are the girls? Aren't you supposed to be with them right now? Especially when they've just been publicly humiliated by some dumb asshole. A familiar face might be nice for them."
I paste on a concerned look, "we were with them earlier, but then they took off and we haven't seen them since miss I'm sorry."
"Right well try and find them okay? They're alone here at Goldridge, they don't need to be lost and alone." She shoots Wes one last dirty look before moving on to question other students.
"I don't know whether to feel pissed or proud right now," Wes says as he watches her walk off. "I mean on the one hand we got away with it, but on the other I am insulted that Avelly thought it was me instantly. It's like I didn't spend all weekend clearing her gutters for her and telling her I won't pull any stunts. I swear there is absolutely no trust in our relationship. I give and I give—"
I tune Wes out. The drama queen can go on his rant by himself. Besides I've just caught sight of an angry purple flurry coming towards me with speed, an exasperated Knight follows her trying to get her to stop.
"Think about it a little bit, before you do something idiotic!"
"You," Annika seethes looking at me and then at Wes who is over his moment and now solely focusing on the angry girl in front of him.
"I know it was you who put that on the wall, you stupid ass dick."
"I don't know what you're talking about," I say, a mask of indifference seeping into my features. "Why would I put that on the wall?"
She pauses at that not exactly willing to admit that she destroyed our cars.
"Because you're a cruel dick who I'm gonna—"
"Okay!" Knight comes from behind and practically launches herself onto Annika to hold her back. "I think you need to cool down, because I do not have the energy to be pulling you out of fights for the rest of the day."
"Then don't pull me out." The draws a defeated sigh from Knight and she practically gives up on the spot. Interesting.
"Fine whatever, do what you want. I'm going to go sit down and deal with my idiot of a brother who got into another fight."
"Again?" Annika's head whips around and she moves away with Knight. I look to Wes and his eyes are stilled glued Annika who turns back around and shoots us one last evil look before continuing on.
