Its been a week since I moved in and I have not seen Leo since then, Allen told me he went to France for a business trip. Nothing crazy has happened since then, the part I like about moving here is I get to spend time with my girls and my brother comes to check on me frequently when he's in town, the downside about it is I never leave alone, I must be accompanied by Roman or Mark. Leo ensured to send his most trusted security and had new ones to his house.

I have been having the training sessions with Fiona and I am getting good at handling some weapons like knives and guns but I doubt that I'll ever be better than her. She never misses. I got to see a side of her I doubt she shows people, she tells me what goes on in her life, the guy she sees and doesn’t want her brothers to find out because he is not in the mafia world and they would threaten him to leave her so she keeps it a secret.

I am in a black jeans and a white sleeveless top with black canvas shoes. My hair is tied in a messy pony tail. I am headed to the kitchen to get some breakfast before Fiona picks me up. I flatly refused to have Martha come here, I don’t need her I can do my own food, do my laundry and get everything done around here myself. Leo insisted but I had to insist so he accepted and forced me to put his number on speed dial in case I need anything.

I get the coffee done and I am making some pancakes when the door is pushed open and Mike walks in. “heey.” I am glad to see him. He makes my day.

“you are up early.” he says placing the shopping bags on the table.

“i have a training session today so I had to make some breakfast.” I say handing him the pancakes and some maple syrup he loves the combination.

“ I am not staying long, I figured you needed some groceries, there was nothing to eat in the fridge.” he says taking a bite.

“i was going to get them after training. Thanks either way.” I say hoisting myself on the kitchen counter biting a pancake.

The door is pushed open again and Fiona walks in, she is in a black short bandage dress that reaches her mid thigh, its honestly crazy how she can fight in such a dress and six inched heels. Her hair is tied in a ponytail as always and she looks like she has seen a ghost when she walks in.

“what are you doing here?” she asks Mike and I am confused.

“do you guys know each other?” I ask them both and mike shakes his head but Fiona says.

“yes.”

“ I'll take that as a yes.” I say hugging Fiona and trying to ignore the awkward moment between them.

“what do you mean no?” Fiona looks disappointed.

“mike?” I call and he looks at me. “explain.”

“we met a while back.” he says turning to Fiona.

“by a while back you mean?”

“ a couple of months.” Fiona says walking to the shelves and retrieving a bottle of whiskey and pouring it in a glass before sipping it she looks furious.

I was surprised to see that at first but I got used to it, but I eventually understood. For someone who kills people for a living, she needs something stronger than coffee.

I gasp when it all sinks, “ oh my God. He is the guy you’ve been telling me about?” I ask Fiona and mike looks confused.

“so you guys have been together since before dad screwed our lives?” I ask mike and he turns to me.

“ I didn’t know you knew each other besides she never tells me what she does for a living.” he says glancing at Fiona and she is downing the whiskey.

I want to ask about Lexy but I don’t want to disappoint Fiona even more plus its not my story to tell.

“ mike, can we have a chat?” I ask through my teeth because I have grown fond of Fiona and if he is messing with Lexy and Fiona at the same time, I am so going to kick his ass.

“okay.” he says coming after me to the lobby.

I push the door open and mark is standing outside. “ hey Mark.” I smile at him and he nods.

“hey, whatever I have with Fiona is complicated.” he starts as soon as we are out of hearing distance.

“ explain.”

“ she doesn’t open up much, you must know that since you happen to be friends.” he says leaning on the balcony. He has a point.

“so that gives you the rights to jump from Lexy to her?” I am trying not to lose it. He is disappointing me big time. “ do you even love any of them?”

“ Lexy and I ended things the other week before mom passed.” he says and I am surprised because I didn’t know.

Come to think of it, I have never had a conversation with Lexy since the mall, she has always had things coming up so she has never shown up here with the girls neither did she show up at mom's burial. “ why? what happened?”

“ she had an affair.” he says and my eyes go wide.

“what?” I am genuinely surprised.

“wait you don’t know?” he looks surprised.

“ know what?”

“ I shouldn't be the one to tell you these.” he says running his hands in his dyed hair.

“tell me what mike.” I am beginning to have ideas an I want him to tell me a different story.

“ Lexy had an affair with Ben.” he says and my heart sinks.

“what!?” I snap. “ since when?”

“ I found out last month when I disappeared I needed time to think.” she turns to me. “ am so sorry max, I assumed your friends told you.”

“they knew.” I ask painfully holding back the tears burning at the back of my eyes.

How could Lexy do this she has been my friend for the longest in the group, we met Amy and Nadia at college but we were together since kindergarten. I can't believe it. She saw me hurt when Ben never showed up for my important occasions, watched me cry thinking he didn’t love me anymore because he started ignoring my calls. She pretended to be there for me and turns out she was the reason I was going through all that?

I know I stopped loving Ben because of how he treated me, but it hurts to find out my closest friend someone I told everything that went on in my life is screwing the guy I loved for four years.

“max, say something.” mike says snapping me back and I stay silent. I honestly don’t know what to say.

I don’t know what hurts more, the fact that Lexy did that or the fact that they all knew and never said anything. I angrily wipe the tears off my cheeks and I push mike away when he moves in to hug me. “don’t.” and I walk back in.

“is everything okay?” Fiona asks concerned when I step in.

“can I have a minute alone please.” I ask tears flowing down my cheeks and she nods.

“ of course.” she says.
