The trees are everywhere and there is a ware house with dim lights. What is this place?

“ what happens here?” I ask out of curiosity and she parks just beside some fancy cars.

“ everything.” she answers briefly and I realize she is not intending on getting into details.

We get off the car shutting the doors behind us and I follow Fiona to the entrance.
She suddenly stops us placing her hand infront of me and I gasp. “ something's not right.” she says in a serious tone letting her eyes scan the area and sure to her words someone shoots at us and we duck in time.

“ Jesus! I'll never get used to this.” I yell staring at Fiona and I watch as she reaches for her guns. One from her ankle in her boots and one from her holster.

“here.” she hands me one of the guns and I quickly grab it. “ try not to run out of bullets.” she says and I hold it steady ignoring it's weight it gets me every time. I place my index finger on the trigger just as Fiona taught me in one of the lessons and like she says try to stay alive. “ stay close okay.” she says in a low tone.

“ I definitely will.” I answer trying to suppress my anxiety that is bubbling.

“ we need to get in and find cover.” she says holding my left hand with her left hand and a gun in her right hand trying to stay focused. “ stay close. I don't want to survive this only to be killed by my brother.” she says casually and I roll my eyes.

“ trust me Fiona, I am not going anywhere.” I say narrowing my eyes at a movement behind the trees and surprisingly they don't shoot so I sigh thanking God.

I know I needed a distraction and this is exceeding all expectations. For some reason being in this situation of life and death with gunshot sounds in the evening air is sending my adrenaline to different levels. A huge part of me is deeply scared and I feel like I am going to die but a tiny part of me feels alive.

The movement at the bushes comes again and Fiona shoots at the person quickly before he raises his gun at us and I am glad she is perfect at it because she never misses.
We finally manage to get inside and my eyes go wide at the huge packs of drugs that I see. They are arranged neatly and I gasp when another gunshot is heard inside with a lot more outside.

“ what the fuck is going on.” I yell at Fiona over the gunshot noises allover the place making it difficult to hear and the impact on the drugs is making the air thick with a mixture of dust and white particles like smoke.

“ lets get this over done with so that Leo will give us the answer.” she says quickly turning suddenly pushing me  and I find myself lying on the floor. Before I could get up I realize we just got us fucked up because whoever is trying to kill us is not a one person and they are raining bullets on us.

Fiona manages to shoot a couple of them and ends up getting grazed by the bullet on her arm.

I keep trying to keep it together but when I see blood on her hand I go into panic mode and I sit staring into nothing. I desperately want to cry but I can't. It's like my tear glands just went on strike or something.
I want to cry so that the huge lump on my throat can just go away. My heart rate is spiked and my breathing is becoming difficult.

Fiona keep shooting crazily and ducking to reload and when she goes to load her gun again her eyes land on me.

“ no no no, Max. This is not the time to panic.” she turns quickly snapping me back to reality. “ listen to me, I know it's your first time getting into real shit like this since the training and I know you're scared but I can't keep you safe if you don't help me.” she tugs me by the chin “ look at me.” she says “ I need you to put on your big girl pants and look out for me. Am going to get us out of here alive.” she finishes and I nod.
I got this. I keep telling myself that until I believe it.

“ you see the door over there?” she asks pointing at a door just a few feet away.

“ yeah.”

“ I need you to run to it and duck, I'll cover you and once you're there I need you to cover me so that I can run.” she sounds out of breath but pretty focused. It's fascinating how composed she is.

“ okay.” I say pushing away the negative thoughts from my head they're not making this any easier.

“ now go.” she says and she stands shooting nonstop at them as I run focusing on the door and not the gunshots.

When I finally get there she nods and I do the same and to my surprise it works. She manages to get here and I have never been prouder.

The crazy shooting keeps going for almost half an hour with Fiona killing most of them and I help as a distraction since I don't have a good shot yet leading me to missing a lot but that is a start right. We finally get outside behind the ware house and the gunshots die a little and we trying to get to the car while keeping low.

My eyes land on Leo's car and my heart races he is here. “ wait.” I tell Fiona and she turns to look at me. “ Leo is here.” I whisper yell.

“ Leo will take care of himself. We need to get you out of here.” she says grabbing my hand and leading me in the direction of our car.

“ what if.” I start when I suddenly imagine he's hurt.

“ listen, at least let me get you to safety and I'll make sure he's okay.” she asks desperately and I nod wiping the tears off my eyes.

I am scared for me and for him. What if I don't see him again. What if neither of us make it out of here alive?

What if..

I try to focus as Fiona leads me to the SUV and I finally heave a sigh of relief when we get to the car without bullets flying in the air.

Fiona quickly drives out of there like crazy and I lean on the window trying not to think the worst at least to calm my nerves.
She drives in silence for sometime before finally looking at me and reaching for her phone. “ shit we left the phone in the car, I have five missed calls from Leo and a couple more from my brothers .” she says reaching to call I guess.

She connects the phone to the Bluetooth and Leo's voice fills the car.

Please don't tell me you went with max to the docs fiona
Leo

He sounds calm and I finally feel like I just had a breath of fresh air.

You told me to distract her.
Fiona.

Damn Fiona. So where are you?
Leo.

Headed to the apartment.
Fiona.

Okay I'll meet you there.
Leo

What happened.
Fiona.

The exchange of the machandice went south before you arrived. I called to tell you to turn back but you never picked.
Leo.

So where are you?
Fiona.

Still at the docs.
Leo.

The sound of that sends my heart to an arrest and I struggle to not yell at him to not dare die.

Fiona looks at me and rolls her eyes like I am just making a fuss out of a small thing.

Can you please tell your girlfriend that you'll be okay so that she doesn't loose her mind.
Fiona.

Max.
Leo.

Him saying my name calms me down and my heart relaxes for a second.

Yeah.
Me.

I try not to break.

I'll see you later. Don't worry about me.
Leo.

I nod wiping my eyes as if he's looking.

I need to hear you.
Leo.

Okay.
Me.

Good. Get her to the apartment safe.
Leo.

And he hungs up.
I just didn't realize how much he'd gotten under my skin until today when I was scared that he was hurt and worse killed.
