PRIYA ✨
"Karthi, enough! It's getting late," I whispered.
But he didn't listen and continued dropping kisses along my neckline. At one point, he started to nibble, leaving a trail of heated pecks. Done with his romance at untime, I pushed him aside with my elbow and turned around. He was handsome as ever dressed in dark blue shirt with veshti; the traditional look of him made me go awe, yet I turned towards the mirror, adjusting my blue silk saree.
"Afraid that you'll go weak seeing me?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes and wore matching bangles, disregarding his tease. Although he was telling the truth, I didn't want to accept it and boost his ego.
"Priya, please," he whispered, huskily.
I immediately faced him and said, "Don't try that with me, Karthi. We're already late. Even the bride herself would be ready by this time. I should be with my friend since it's her day to enjoy."
Karthi just shrugged and said, "I bet Sita wouldn't mind! She's happy romancing her would-be husband."
"What?" My eyes widened. She wasn't supposed to meet him before the marriage.
"What? Don't act as if we never romanced before marriage. Infact, we roamed around, hugged, an-"
"Shut up," I muttered, blushing. He's turned shameless after marriage.
"Oh, oh! My beautiful blushing wifey!" he teased while my cheeks heated up.
"Leave this. I'll go disrupt their romance."
But before I could reach the door, Karthi grabbed my hand, pulling me towards him; my chests grazed and my heartbeat quickened. Even after one year of our marriage, I still felt shy when he initiated anything. The same goes for him; he would blush like a new bride when I romance him. Before I could contemplate further, he kissed my forehead.
"Love you, Priya," he whispered, resting his forehead against mine.
A subtle smile adorned my lips, heeding him and I replied, "Love you more."
"You look freaking beautiful in my choice. Can't wait for tonight!" he mumbled.
My gaze dropped down and I was a blushing mess. Why is he hell bent on making me feel things?
Suddenly, we held a throat clearing sound. We promptly parted, creating a decent distance between us. Looking at the doorstep, my eyes bulged.
"Rads!"
"It's Sita's marriage, guys! Not yours!" she said, her voice reflecting a glint of tease.
I glimpsed at Karthi to lighten up the situation but to my surprise, he was blushing. Scratching his neck, he looked at me and then at Radha.
"Huh, I'll see if Siddhu is ready!" he muttered and rushed outside.
Radha burst out laughing and entered the room; from her attitude, I could say that she was gonna tease me. Trying to escape, I muttered a lame excuse but she caught me in redlight.
"Aah, no, Priya! You can't escape like Karthi anna did... Poor fellow, he's still the same blushing husband. I mean he's gonna check if Siddhu anna is ready... How lame?"
I rolled my eyes at her utterance. The same blushing husband do shameless things every single day. But my lips tugged up reminiscing his silly excuse; he's indeed a stupid but cute guy.
"So, when can I expect a mini Priya?" Radha asked, smiling a bit.
"When I can expect your marriage," I replied.
"Oh, savage!" she muttered, sarcasm filling her voice.
"That I am!" I laughed.
...
As the tiresome day came to an end, I and Karthi shared the bed, talking about life. It was almost seven in the evening as we reached home. Since we had an early dinner, we resolved to chat for sometime. It'd been a while since we talked about random things like we did during our pre-marriage life.
"Karthi," I called.
He hummed as his hand played with my waist chain: his gift on the account of our first anniversary. I still couldn't figure out his obsession with my waist. What a weird guy!
"What do you think about having babies?" I asked, nervously.
His actions ceased as he looked at me, flabbergasted. His reaction had my heart stop for a moment; my overthinking brain flooded with assumptions.
"Why? I mean...all of a sudden. Did someone s-"
"Why it has to be about someone? Can't I plan our future?"
He chuckled. "Think about what you said when I asked about this 'future planning'."
And I was tongue-tied. Few months back, I was the one who fought with him when all he had asked was, "Can we have a baby of our own?" I was kinda stressed that day and his question out of nowhere caught me off-guard. Looking back, I shouldn't have picked up a argument on that topic and it was my fault, entirely. Yet, he apologized and never talked about having babies.
My eyes glistened and I mumbled, "I'm sorry, Karthi. I sh-"
"It's okay," he whispered, kissing my cheeks. "So, you want to have a baby now?"
His question made me feel guilty; it was like he had no say in our relationship.
"Karthi, please don't talk like this. You've right in this matter, too. I was... I was just off that day and-"
He embraced me in his arms and I rested my head on his shoulder, involuntarily. "Hush... Don't... Let's talk about this later..."
"I love you. I love you so much, Karthik," I confessed from the bottom of my heart.
He smiled. "I know."
I hit his chest, annoyed with his response. "Is this the way you respond for my heartfelt confession?"
He laughed and his hands trailed to my neck, cupping my cheeks. Leaning closer, his lips touched mine gently. A passionate kiss erupted as be both participated eagerly. A slow kiss with full of love.
Maybe... We had to wait for a while to expand our family... Why rush when there's an entire life ahead?
