It was 12:30 pm. Bonnie stood in front of the mirror, her stylist and makeup artist working quickly but carefully, preparing her for the final two hours of her morning. The soft hum of the blow dryer and the steady click of brushes filled the air as she chatted with her best friends.
“So, Bonnie,” Caroline said, her voice light and teasing, “how was last night?”
“Yeah, what did you and Enzo get up to in that suite?” Elena added with a sly smile.
Bonnie chuckled, her fingers brushing her lips as she recalled the events of the night before. “Um... it was an eventful night, to say the least. Enzo did something to me that no guy has done... not even Jeremy. I’m just... I’m happy he’s back. He’s changed my life in ways I never thought possible.” Bonnie smiled, her face softening as she spoke, unaware that Enzo, Damon, and Stefan were quietly listening from behind the door.
“Good job, Buddie,” Damon’s voice rang out from behind the door.
“I know,” Enzo replied with a quiet chuckle.
“Are you ready to propose to her?” Stefan asked, his voice full of warmth.
“I’m more than ready. I’m ready to propose to the woman I love,” Enzo said, his words full of sincerity.
Bonnie, still oblivious to their presence, continued chatting with her friends as the stylist finished her makeup. A few minutes later, Elena and Caroline helped her into her outfit for brunch, the final touches falling into place.
(Author’s note: Elena had her twins just a week ago, and Jeremy was babysitting them while the girls were out.)
Bonnie stood up from the vanity, the transformation complete. “Okay, I’m ready,” she said, smiling as she exited the bedroom, her friends turning to admire her.
“Wow, Bonnie, you look amazing,” Caroline said, her eyes wide with admiration.
“Caroline’s right. Enzo is one lucky man,” Elena added with a grin.
“She’s right,” Enzo said, stepping into the room with a smile that sent Bonnie’s heart fluttering. “Bonnie Bennet, you take my breath away every time I see your beautiful face.”
Bonnie raised an eyebrow as she caught him staring. “Thank you. How long have you been standing there?”
“The whole time,” Damon said, stepping forward as Stefan followed suit. “We were eavesdropping on your conversation.”
“You girls look stunning,” Stefan added with a wink.
Bonnie raised an exasperated eyebrow. “Do y’all not know how to mind your damn business? It’s called priv—”
Before she could finish, Enzo was beside her, his voice lowering, a playful edge cutting through his words. He leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear. “I told you to be on your best behavior, Bonnie.”
Bonnie sighed, feeling the heat rise in her cheeks. She fell quiet, her lips twitching into a small, barely-there smile as Enzo’s hand settled at her waist. She bit back the grin, trying to stay composed.
“Sorry, bad habits,” Bonnie muttered, her voice soft. “Better? Or we can stay and talk about last night.”
Enzo smirked, his fingers brushing against her skin, sending a shiver down her spine. “Okay, I’m sorry. I’ll be on my best behavior.” He grinned. “Good girl.”
The group erupted into laughter, Damon’s voice ringing out. “We heard that.”
Bonnie’s face flushed, and she rolled her eyes, still smiling. “Shall we leave? We don’t want to be late.”
