Taylor sighed as she leant against the window in the back of her car. They were driving down one of the highways, coming into New York, having flown from LA.
Car.
Car.
Car.
Taylor silently watched as cars sped past them on the outside lane, as the sun began to set, the road still busy late into the evening. She wondered where they were all going. Not everyone would be coming back from work she decided, and so for the next half hour, everytime a car went past, she made up a situation for them, to distract her mind from the reality she was running from.
A girl drove past grinning- just been on a first date.
A couple holding hands in the middle of the seats- he just engaged and they were on the way to tell the parents.
A man in the passenger seat of a taxi on the phone- on the way to surprise his long distance girlfriend.
A group of girls in a minibus- on the way into the city for a birthday party.
A man speeding slightly with a pregnant girl beside him- on the way to the hospital as she was in labor.
An older lady with her husband- celebrating their 50th anniversary.
3 guys- on the way back from a fishing trip.
A man and his daughter- on the way back from a concert.
A mum and her 2 daughters- on the way back from a school production.
A man in a suit- on the way home from an important buisness meeting.
A teenage girl staring out the back window with headphones in- listening to Taylors music, dreaming about her crush.
Any of these could have been true. But none were true about Taylor.
None explained why she was driving to New York so late at night.
Not even her driver knew.
No-one knew but Taylor.
She was running.
Running from reality.
Running from responsibility.
Running from rejection.
Taylor doesnt normally run. Normally she has some form of control over the situtaion. With the Papz, she has security, With the Media- she has her publicist. With any other situtaion, she'd write a song.
But this was a situation different to all others she'd ever encountered. It wasn't something she had planned for (yet anyway). It wasn't something they'd planned for.
She arrived at her New York appartment shortly, and luckily, no-one knew she was there so there were no papz. Taylor figured luck was in her side for this one moment of the day, considering she was wearing an oversized hoodie, leggins, no make up, and her hair was a mess. She ran inside, and soon found herself curled up in her bed, under the duvet.
Reality hit her again as she lay down, causing tears to form in her eyes. She reached into her pocket, and pulled out her phone, scrolling down her contacts.
Karlie.
Taylor knew she was in New York, as they'd spoke only yesterday.
The phone rang a few time before Karlie picked up.
