Shut up and Dance

Calvin entered the dimly lit room which was already buzzing with people. It was the night of the brits, and he'd won his first ever brit, but on the non televised part of the show. He hadnt expected to win, so he had happily made a bet with Ellie that if he won he would attend the after party with her. He didnt drink, so didnt usually attend the partys- especially since most of his friends apart from ellie weren't at this one- but a bet is a bet, and he never forfeited.
Despite his tall build, he easily got lost in a crowd of this size, and that made him uncomfortable. He didnt know anyone in the room, considering it wasnt his labels party, but another one Ellie had invited him to.
He glanced around, remembering Ellie was here somewhere, and after a few minutes of awkward hovering, he spotted her by the DJ of the evening, radio 1s breakfast presenter, Nick Grimshaw.
He headed up the stairs to join her, before creeping up behind her and covering her eyes. "Guess who?" He whispered into her ear, his scottish accent giving it away.
"CALVIN!!! You actually came!!!"
Ellie exclaimed hugging him.
They chatted for a while about the award ceremony; Ellie had been presenting an award.
A while later, a tall blond haired girl came up and covered Ellies eyes with her hands, and giggled "guess who?" to her, in exactly the same way as Calvin had 10 minyes prior.
Calvin smiled at this girls antics; not many thought the same way as him.
In the dimly lit light, she looked gorgeous, her blond hair fell lightly across her face, and her short black dress extencuiated her longs legs. In her heels, she was almost as tall as himself. It was rare he met a girl who was nearish his height. As she moved into the light to hug Ellie, her hair moved from her face, and Calvin recognised her. It was Taylor Swift. The american country star, who had taken to pop by storm. He'd always admired her from afar; her hardwork, commitment to fans, kindness, and her talent. Her talent was unbelivable; being able to craft works if beauty from words, was something Calvin admired, and was extremly jealous over. Not many have the power to make grown men cry, but Taylor could. Calvin had a tear rolling down his face at the end of All too Well at the Grammys.
He'd been wondering when he'd get the chance to meet her. About a year go he had said on a radio show, that she wasnt his type, but he was regreting that now! She was absolutely gorgergous and just from the one action, he realised how alike the two were!!
"Calvin this is Taylor Swift, Taylor this is Calvin Harris" Ellie announced smiling, noticing he was still there staring intently at Taylor
"Nice to finally meet you Calvin" Taylor said smiling,
"Likewise Swift" Calvin replied smiling.
"I love your music" Taylor exclaimed, as if remembering at last who he was. "Feel so close is in my 'midnight rave with friends or cats' playlist! A very elite playlist!"
Calvin smiled laughing, "i feel priveledged! i admit to full on dancing round my hotel room just last night to Shake It Off!! Its such a amazing song! I'd have loved to produce it, but Max and Shellback did such a great job!!"
Taylor giggled hearing calvins confession "I would have paid so much money to see that!! Yeah, they did! I love them both so much!"
"Id love to have a go at producing one of your songs! Your lyrics are so unbelievably beautifully written, which is rare in a pop or dance song!"
"I'd love to have you produce one! I'll send a demo over when im back in the US if you want, one of my unreleased songs, and you can have a go. I've already got one in mind. Maybe if i like it, i'll let you produce one for my next album sometime"
"That sounds great! Whats it about if you dont mind me asking"
"My cats" Taylor said seriously, and a few seconds later she burst into laughter seeing Calvin had actually believed her. "I wrote it a few years back, and its about living in the moment and remebering the good times."
"Whats it called??" Calvin asked smiling.
"They, there are two of them. Olivia and Meredith!"
"I meant the song" Calvin said laughing! "The entire world knows the names of your cats!! They're like more famous than you!!"
"Yeah... The fame got to Meredith, and shes a real diva now. Disrespects everyone, including me, and i raised her!" Taylor said sadly. "Olivia is something special!! She doesnt understand the fame yet! Oh and the songs called Moments"
"I love cats, we have one back in Scotland. I travel to much too actually have one of my own. I have fish in LA which are difficult enough when i travel!"
"Where in LA do you live?! I have a house in LA!"
They continued chatting for about an hour, Ellie and Karlie left them after about 10 minutes grinning at each other.
Nick began to play more dance pop songs as more people began to move onto the dance floor.
All of a sudden, Taylor jumped up excitedly from the seat they were sat on in the quieter booths at the side of the club
"I LOVE THIS SONG!!" She exclaimed, and grabbed Calvins hand to pull him up, but Calvin wouldnt let himself be moved.
"I dont dance" he said simply, after Taylor tried to pull him up for the third time.
"And why not?! We both know i cant dance either!! Its general knowledge about my award show dancing!"
"I dont know, i just dont dance!"
"Pleaseeee i dont know where the girls are and i want to spend more time with you anyway" Taylor whined, before blushing realising what she said.
"Likewise, but i'd rather spend time with you here and not dancing!"
"What do i have to do to get you to dance??" Taylor said seriously.
"Nothing, I won't dance!"
"There has got to be something that would convince you?!" She exclaimed.
"There is one thing"
"Yes! What?!"
"Go on a date with me. I really have enjoyed tonight, and i really want to get to know you better, i'll dance if you'll go on a date with me"
Taylor blushed "I really want to know you better too, tonight has been so fun!" She thought for a moment. With dating comes the media pressure and haters. Was she ready for that again?? Would Calvin cope?? Was 2 years a long enough break?
Then she heard another of her favourite songs come on. Scrap the media, she was going to dance with this man, and she was going to go on a date with him. One date is not marriage, or anything serious. She could talk to Calvin about the media then.
"Yes" she finally replied.
"Yes?!" Calvin exclaimed grinning, " you'll really go on a date with me?!"
"Yeah, as long as you dance!!"
"Taylor swift, the woman who has sworn off dating for 2 years, and who has recently said it would have to take someone incredible to make her date again, has agreed to go on a date with me, a scottish dj, just to see me dance?!"
"Shut up and dance with me" taylor said grinning as she pulled Calvin up and towards the dance floor.
As they reached the dance floor, the reality of the situation hit her. She was dancing with a guy. Pictures were likely to be all over the internet the next day, and the media would have a field day. The harsh situation would occur all over again.
Calvin noticing her hesitation bent down and whisper shouted into her ear; "Dont you dare look back, keep your eyes on me"

Taylor squeezed his hand hearing his words and lead him onto the floor. They made there way into the middle of the dance floor, and Calvin played true to his word and full on danced, spinning Taylor round and round, and like taylors song, truely made the moves up as he went.
At one point they span passed Ellie and Karlie, but Taylor didnt notice, her head thrown back in laughter. They saw the smile on her face and just grinned at each other knowingly.
As the evening drew to a close, Taylor and Calvin returned to the sofa they were sat on earlier.
"Thanks for a lovely evening Calvin, Its been a pleasure meeting you"
"Pleasures all mine Swift" he said grinning. "And about that date? LA on Saturday good?"
"Saturdays fine" Taylor said grinning.
"Perfect. I'll come pick you up at 7"
They swapped phone numbers, before Ellie came over and mentioned to Taylor that they should be heading off.
"Bye Calvin! thanks for dancing with me! See you saturday"
"Bye Taylor. Have a safe flight! And call me Adam" he said smiling, as he pulled her in for a hug. As she went to pull back, he brushed his lips against cheek.
Taylor grinned "Goodnight Adam" she finally said, before heading to the exit where Ellie, Karlie and Tree were all waiting. They climbed into the waiting car before all turning to Taylor who was grinning profusely.
"Care to clue us in as to why your grinning so much?!" Tree said grinning back.
"I have just had the most amazing evening" taylor said, still grinning.
"And..." Karlie promted. "We all know its more than that!"
"Ive got a date with Adam on Saturday!!" Taylor said giggling with joy. "He said he would dance if i went on a date with him"
Karlie joined in giggling with her, "Congrats Taylor!! Hes such a hottie!!"
"I'm so happy for you!" Tree exclaimed, smiling.
Ellie, however, was quiet.
"Ellie?" Taylor whispered confused as the car fell silent. Had she done something wrong.
"You called him Adam?"
"Yeah, he said as i was leaving to call him that" Taylor said confused.
"I knew him for a month before he allowed me to call him Adam" she said seriously before grinning "Taylor, how the hell have you managed to get him so smitten in a night?!"
"I dont know!!" Taylor said laughing, pleased Ellie was happy for her.

Later that evening, Ellie text Calvin.
E- First thing; Her happiness means the world to all of us. Don't mess up, otherwise you'll have her entire squad out for you. She better not be just a rebound girl
2nd thing; congrats!!
3rd thing; what has she done that made you so smitten that you let her call you Adam after 4 hours?!

C- I know its soon, but I feel we were bound to be together. Bound to stay together. I feel she is my destiny.

Calvin lay on his bed in his hotel room once he had made it home. He unlocked his phone before texting Taylor.
C- thanks for a wonderful evening Taylor x
He opened his camera roll where a selfie of the two of them sat, taken by Taylor. He stared at it for a while, still shocked that THE taylor swift was going on a date with him!
Then, as he looked deep into her eyes, he realised he could see a future. A future with her. And that this was his last chance. If they didnt work out, she would be unlikely to date ever again.
He vowed then to make this girl his future.

---- 3 years later on 13/10/2018---

They were sat side by side at the table, holding hands tightly.
"Mrs Wiles, did i mention how stunning you look today?"
"Only a few times, Husband"
They grinned at each other.
Ellie stood up on the stage set up in front of the tables, and the room fell quiet.
"Three years ago, at the Brits, i introduced these two tall loveable giraffes to each other. I had known for a while they were made for each other, but i knew i had to let fate take its path; theyd meet when they were meant to. And so at the Brits, i was smiling when they met. Somehow Taylor here convinced Calvin to dance with her, and somehow he convinced her to go on a date with him. Two things that they would generally never do. When i saw them on that dance floor, i knew then they were soulmates, and that i would be reaccounting that night at their wedding someday. And well, i was right. I had never seen each of them as happy as they were that night, and fron then on, whenever they were together. They were bound to be together, bound to stay together, and to be each others destiny.
And now, i would like to welcome Mr and Mrs Wiles to the floor for their first dance.
Calvin had chosen the song, and as it played, Taylor gasped in surprise. It was the song theyd danced to at the brits.
"You remembered?" Taylor whispered, with tears in her eyes.
"Course!"
"I love you so much Adam"
"I love you too Tay, but please, shut up and dance with me" he said winking, pulling his wife out into the middle of the dance floor.
