Reina leaned back in her chair, her mind buzzing with the weight of Lady Eleanor's words. She knew the game she was playing was dangerous, but she hadn't fully grasped the extent of it until now. The forces Eleanor spoke of—shadowy, hidden influences—made her realize that power in the kingdom ran much deeper than she had ever imagined.
"Thank you for your advice, Lady Eleanor," Reina said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside. "But if I'm going to survive, I need more than just warnings. I need to know what I'm up against."
Lady Eleanor studied Reina carefully, her expression unreadable. "You're asking for knowledge that could put you in even more danger. Are you prepared for that?"
Reina met her gaze, unflinching. "I've come too far to turn back now."
A brief flicker of approval passed through Eleanor's eyes. She walked over to a tall bookshelf, her fingers gliding over the spines of ancient tomes before opening a hidden compartment. She pulled out a small, intricately carved jewelry box and handed it to Reina.
"This box is a gift from me to you for the courage you have shown in front of everyone. I know it's nothing very expensive but do accept this."
