Chapter 5

I go in and there's the usual mess, Yami approaches me "So what's keeping you?" he asks "A little old lady who turned out to be Julius" I say. He chuckles "the newbies have a dungeon mission, but you have a mission with Nozel and one with the Golden Sunrise in a row, also you have to leave tomorrow".

"Ok, but I have a question, I've always wondered why it seems like I'm some kind of Jolly and that I'm actually part of different companies, do you know why?" I ask curiously, "Honestly, I think it comes from the fact that you are too powerful and that you could have your own company, but you refuse".

I snort "Being a captain would bring a huge effort, I don't want to and I'm lazy so, no Thank you!" I say throwing myself onto the couch.

Yami shakes his head but lets it go, I start chatting with the others and the evening passes quickly. I don't even realize that it's already dawn, I haven't slept much, but never mind, I put on my cape and go out. I get my broom and since no one is awake yet I leave.

I arrive at the base of the Silver Eagle, and I get off my broom, today I decided to wear a different dress because the others were washing, it bothers me slightly because it's not in my usual style, it's too long and the sleeves get in my way and it's also made of an annoying fabric, but never mind.

I'm at the door and waiting to go in, when I see Nebra walking in the internal courtyard. I ignore her, she's laughing with her friends, but then I hear that she's talking about how inept her sister is.

My blood boils and I struggle to stay calm, but I promised Noz that I would try to get along with all his brothers, so I swallow my anger and wait. After twenty minutes in which no one opens the door I'm about to leave, but I hear a voice calling me "Seline! Wait!" it's Noz.

I stop, I turn and still a little nervous I say "It took you a long time". He is breathing heavily he must have been running, but he immediately recovers his composure, "I told Solid to come and welcome you, but I discovered now that he never arrived, I apologize, I'll talk to him later, I'm ready now we can go" he says hastily making an imperceptible bow of apology.

I smile at him "Don't worry, Noz, it's nothing, but we have to catch up on time" I take the grimoire and leaf through the pages while he watches me. "Passage" a black portal opens in front of us, "Beautiful... ahem... beautiful magic" I hear him whisper.

"Yes beautiful, but like all beautiful things it's difficult to maintain so hurry up" I say quickly, he doesn't let me repeat it and jumps in.

I had the mission explained to me. There is a group of ferocious beasts wandering in the woods near the capital. We have to eliminate the danger, basically we have to black out some bears enhanced by magic. Normally we wouldn't need a commander for this, but it seems that these beasts are controlled by someone and they seem more like real magical spirits, so...

We arrive in front of the woods, "good" he says "I'll take care of the left, you go to the right, so we can finish quickly and I can take you to a place that makes delicious chocolate desserts to make up for the delay". I make a quick jump of joy "hurray!! chocolate!!"

I think chocolate is one of my few weaknesses, but I would kill for that, so Noz knows just how to motivate me. We finish the mission very quickly, mainly because I immediately find who controls them, and motivated by my love for chocolate I knock her out with one blow or 'Breaking Point', ( it is a wind spell that concentrates a deadly pressure, forcing a weak point in the opponent, based on the opponent's power it takes more or less time to force the weak point, but it will always hit the mark).

Once everything is fixed we reunite. "Seline... your... dress..." I look down and see that it is in tatters, the skirt is practically non-existent and the sleeves are gone. Noz is holding his nose with one hand, I immediately get worried.

"Oh Noz are you okay, is your nose bleeding? I didn't really notice the clothes and I didn't know I tore them, are you seriously okay? Do you need a doctor?"

He has become very pale and blood is still dripping from his nose, but he still finds the strength to put his mantle on me and say "Here... take... this...".

I put it on and I immediately feel safe surrounded by his smell. I bury myself in it , he seems to recover a little, "So about that chocolate... is the offer still valid? If you're not well we can postpone it" I say a little worried. He hurries to quickly shake his arms up and down "No no I'm fine let's go!"

He evokes his enormous liquid silver eagle and transports us to the city. The afternoon passes in a flash. I have a lot of fun with Noz. And as we return to the base we are still joking and laughing, until we are interrupted by his brother and sister, who approach us.

"Brother, we were wondering where you were!" says Solid, "yes, I still don't understand what you find in this sloppy country girl" adds Nebra. I see Noz's face darken, the smile now gone "Solid, I didn't specifically tell you to come and welcome her when she arrived" he says, completely ignoring Solid's and Nebra's comment. Which I'm grateful for, because deep down I think they're right. "You know, brother, I forgot, plus I don't think she was offended, in any case I had a lot to do and...", but he doesn't have time to finish the sentence because Noz interrupts him. "She was our guest, I specifically asked her to come and in this way you have dishonored our company by demonstrating the hospitality of an insect".

The atmosphere becomes heavy, very heavy, I don't know what pushes me to put my hand down on his shoulder, and since he isn't wearing his mantle because I still have it, I feel the warmth of his skin "Come on, it doesn't matter, I understand that your brothers from their high position don't consider me, it's not the first time and it won't be the last, so why lend it so much attention" I say with a smile and a calm voice even if I am hurt.

"But don't worry I will only stay here for this night tomorrow I leave for the Golden Dawn where I will have to do another mission so I will remove the disturbance that my dirty presence causes" I say always in a calm voice.

The two brothers seem made of granite, while Noz stares at me with a mixture of concern, admiration and amazement. With one last smile I disappear up the stairs and arrive where I know my room is. I close the door and sink into bed while a few silent tears roll down my cheeks.
