Sean's pov

Setting up the studio was something I'd done countless times before, but today, it felt more important. I meticulously arranged the microphones, checked the soundboard, adjusted the levels on the mixer, and ensured every cable was securely connected. The acoustics in this studio were top-notch, but I made sure to fine-tune the monitor speakers so I could capture every nuance of the girls' voices. As I worked, I could hear them warming up, each of them going through their own routines—scales, vocal runs, humming exercises—filling the air with a blend of voices that showed their diverse strengths.

I calibrated the vocal isolation booth, ensuring the sound would come through cleanly with minimal reverb. Every detail mattered because I wanted to hear the purity in their voices without the interference of faulty equipment. After a few minutes, everything was in place. I stepped back, took a deep breath, and turned to the girls.

"Okay, everything's set up. You girls ready?" I asked, looking at them through the glass.

"Yeah!" they all replied in unison, their excitement palpable even from across the room.

Jhoanna stepped forward, looking a bit more serious than the others. "So, Sean, we had an idea. We thought we should go in smaller groups instead of all eight of us singing together. It'll give you a better chance to analyze our voices individually, without getting overwhelmed."

"Yeah, this way you can really hear the range of what we can do," Aiah added, nodding in agreement.

"Sounds good to me," I said, giving them a thumbs-up. "Who's going first?"

Colet, Maloi, and Jhoanna stepped forward. "We'll go first," Maloi said confidently. "We're going to sing Secret Love Song by Little Mix."

I grinned. "Great choice. Alright, get into the session room, and I'll queue up the track."

They filed into the soundproof booth, and I found the song on my phone, connecting it to the mixer. I adjusted the track to a minus-one version, stripping away the vocals so only the instrumentals played. I glanced at them through the booth's glass, giving them a quick thumbs-up to signal that everything was ready. They put on their headphones, and I hit play.

Now Playing - Secret love song by Little Mix

As the studio's soundboard came alive with the haunting melodies of piano and violin, Maloi's voice soared like a bird taking flight, singing the opening lines of the song.

When you hold me in the street

And you kiss me on the dancefloor

With each word, her passion radiated through the air, capturing the essence of longing. I could see the way she poured her heart into the performance, her body swaying gently as if to the rhythm of an unspoken love.

Colet took her turn next, her voice a rich, low note that resonated beautifully. She sang with a depth that sent shivers down my spine.

We keep behind closed doors

Every time I see you I die a little more

Her gaze was fixed somewhere beyond the room, as if she were lost in her own memories. The emotion in her voice was palpable, and I could feel the weight of her words—a bittersweet ache that lingered in the air.

Then it was Jhoanna's turn, her vibrant energy igniting the room. She sang with a fierce intensity that was both captivating and relatable.

It's obvious you're meant for me
