"Please Richard, we are starving!" Emily calls from the dining table.

"I will be right there, Emily" Richard says back

"This is ridiculous" Emily claims

"Oh relax" Lorelai tells her

"He woke up this morning and suddenly just had to have this dish that his grandmother would make him" Emily explains

"We all understand the cravings" Lorelai says

"It's a family secret" Richard yells from the kitchen

"Well last time I checked, I was family" Emily shouts back

"He's having fun grandma" Rory says

Richard comes in, carrying a dish "here we are, a treat for the masses"

"Smells good" Iris says leaning forward

"This was my favourite thing to eat as a boy" Richard says as he dishes it out "my gran used to make this for me whenever I was feeling a little sad. You know, if my cricket team lost or a girl I fancied turned up her nose at me"

"Well then load me up because there was this cute chick at the pharmacy today, I used my best material on her and nothing" Lorelai claims

"At least let Pina serve it" Emily says

"No comment on the lesbian hilarity, my how far we've come" Iris jokes

"Pina will serve tiny, proper servings" Richard says sitting down after giving everyone a plate full "Johnny Machete needs to be presented in a heap"

Iris takes a bite. "Johnny Machete?" Rory questions

"That's the name of this vile concoction" Emily states

"It's delicious" Iris claims

"It's not bad" Lorelai agrees

"It's twelve different colours" Emily exclaims

"Come on mom, eat it" Lorelai says

"Looks like someone already did" Emily comments

"Emily" Richard starts

"I'm sorry, I'm happy you're happy" she says "and to prove it I will take exactly three bites of this before I throw it out" Emily says

"Thank you" Richard smiles "so good food, good company, now let's move on to good conversation. Girls, what's new in your lives?"

Iris and Rory look at each other and then to their mom.

"Well-" Iris starts

"We got out collage acceptance letters back" Rory finishes

"Harvard and Princeton" Lorelai indicates to Rory "and both got into Yale" they all smile at sharing the news.

"And after giving it a lot of thought, I have decided I am going to Yale" Rory announces

"We both are" Iris smiles

Their grandparents barely look up from their meals.

"Did you hear that?" Lorelai asks "Yale!"

"We're going to Yale" Rory repeats

"That's where you went dad" Lorelai reminds him

"You liked it remember?" Iris says

"Pass the Johnny Machete" Emily says

"I don't understand" Rory says

"I thought we wanted us to go to Yale?" Iris questions
