Narrator's POV
Scarlett sat in a rocking chair on the porch as she fidgets with her charm bracelet before Maggie steps out of the screen door and out onto the porch
"I remember when mama got you that bracelet." Maggie says with a soft smile as she sits down in the rocking chair beside Scarlett
"What was it? Your eighth birthday?" Maggie asks
"Yeah. She promised she'd get me a new charm for every birthday." Scarlett says as tears form in her eyes
"She died a month later." She adds with a sniffle as tears fall from her eyes
"And then when I met D..." She says trailing off as she wipes her tears away
"He fulfilled her promise." Maggie finishes for her
"Every single birthday he got me a new charm." Scarlett says
"Whatcha got on there now?" Maggie asks with a soft smile
"The horseshoe that mama got for it. Then D got me an army charm, then one that says "03" for the year we got together, then this one with a D inside of a heart, an infinity symbol..." She says trailing off as she fidgets with the infinity symbol on her bracelet
"That was your guy's thing." Maggie mutters
"He always said he loved me to infinity and beyond." Scarlett says with a small laugh as more tears fall from her eyes before she clears her throat and wipes her tears away
"Then he got me this one when I passed my exams to be an RN, then this one when we got married." She says before her eyes fall on the charm that reads "MOM"
"Then this one." She mutters
"You wanna talk about it?" Maggie asks her
"Did I make a mistake? Should I have stayed?" Scarlett asks as tears pour from her eyes as she looks up at Maggie
"Oh, Scar." Maggie mutters as she takes ahold of Scarlett's hand
"I mean, he was sad, too. I know that--" She starts
"Neither of you were gonna heal had you stayed, Scar." Maggie says cutting her off
"I miss my husband, Mags. I miss him so much. And I'm so terrified that I'll lose this baby, too." Scarlett cries out before Maggie drapes her left arm over Scarlett's shoulders
"You've got a doppler in your med kit, right?" Maggie asks her
"Yeah. Yeah, I got one." Scarlett says
"So why don't you use it. Listen. Maybe it'll take some of that fear away." Maggie says before their eyes fall on a car driving toward the house
"That's probably Rick and Lori's people." Scarlett says as she stands up from her seat and the car comes to a stop before the Korean man from earlier and another man climb out of the car
