Warning

1 - I haven't written in a while and I haven't watched Supernatual in a while, so some things mentioned may be wrong according to the Show, but honestly I'm not too worried about that, because in the end this is a fanfiction and I don't need to use what occurs in canon.

2 - English is not my language, so mistakes may occur, you can let me know if you find an error, because even if I review the text, sometimes I may miss an expression or word.
3 - I'm going to explore Sabriel in various ways, but I don't know yet if I'm going to write Smut, maybe I'll write more in the future, but I'm not promising anything.
4 - Destiel may appear, but the focus is Sabriel.
5 - I will try to post twice a week, once during the week and once at the weekend.
6- Enjoy

This one-shot is based on the song "You don't Know - Katelyn Tarver"

The muffled sound of the rain beating against the window looked a reflection of Sam's inner state, sitting on the couch the motel room holding a glass of whiskey with his shaking hand. Sam's tiredness weighed on his shoulders like an anchor. Across the room, Gabriel silently watched his usual irreverence set aside.

"I'm So Tired, Sitting Here Waiting ..."

Sam was tired, more tired than he could express. There was a constant weight on his shoulders, an endless wait for something that may never come. The battles never ended, no matter how much he tried, how much he struggled, fate seemed to laugh at his efforts.

- Sam...- Gabriel began with a low voice, but quickly was interrupted by an impatient gesture of Sam.

- No. The word came out harder than Sam intended, frustration accumulated in every syllable.

Sam didn't want to hear anything at that moment, no words of comfort, and certainly not Gabriel's attempts to make the world look less chaotic than it really was.

"If i Hear One More 'Just Be Patient', It's Always Gonne Stay the Same ..."

Sam knew that Gabriel had good intentions, he always tried to find the right words, some advice that could relieve the pain that Sam carried, but it didn't matter, Sam had heard it so many times, like an old tape repeating the same empty phrases, while the reality around it remained dark and unalterable.

Gabriel's gaze was loaded with worry, but Sam diverted his eyes, he couldn't handle it now. Not with the overwhelming pain of carrying the world on the back for so long. The world had always told him to keep his head up, to continue to fight, but Sam no longer wanted to fight.

"So let me just give up, so let me just let go ..."

Sam ran his hands on his face, shaving to brush his fingers, all inside him was in ruins. How many times had he heard the same phrases, the same empty advice? "It will be all right", "be patient", "you will overcome". It was always the same, and nothing changed, the weight of the world was still overwhelming and the endless struggle.

-I'm exhausted to hear things will improve. - Sam's voice broke, exposing the fragility he tried so much to hide. -They never change.

Gabriel step forward, his hands, which always seemed to be in movements, now quiet beside his body. He didn't know what to say, and perhaps for the first time Sam appreciated that, there was nothing more to say. Void, desperation, feeling of impotence were realities that words could not fill.

"I Don't Want Your Good Advice or Reasons Why I'm Alright ..."

Sam suddenly stood up the intensity of the pain exploding on his chest, the whiskey's glass fell from his mother, spilling the amber liquid to the floor of which he didn't care.

-I'm tired of fighting! - Sam's voice rose, echoed by the small room- Why do I have to continue to try? If it's not good for me, why do I have to know? Why do I have to keep pretending that everything will look good when...- He took a deep breath, his eyes teary - When I don't know what else to do?

Gabriel remained where he was silent, he knew that any attempt to soften Sam's words would be useless. It was a pain that Gabriel could not solve with a snap of his fingers, and perhaps that, it was the one that hurt the most - the impotence before the person Gabriel wanted to protect and loved.

"You Don't Know What's Like ..."

Sam ran a hand over his hair, feeling that he was drifting, for so long, he was pushed by "advice", "good intentions", as if a positive phrase could erase the reality that consumed Sam, but no one really knew what He was going through. No one understood the weight he carried, how much it was sinking and slowly killing him.

Sam turned to Gabriel, his dark, tired eyes.

-You have no idea what this is. - Sam's voice was low, almost a whisper, but the pain in it was palpable. - You don't know what it is to feel that way, sinking without doing anything to change.

Gabriel didn't answer, just looked at Sam with a silent sadness, his hands slightly shaking. The archangel was known for his wit, always having a ready answer, but now he was unarmed, Sam did not need answers, guarantees or empty promises that everything would be fine. Sam just needed to be heard.

"Can't Stop these Feet from Singing, and It's Starting to Show on Me ..."

The silence between them was broken only by the sound of the rain against the windows. Time seemed suspended as Gabriel was trying to find a way to reach Sam, to show that he was here, but how could Gabriel understand such a deep pain, so old? How could he even start understanding the burden that Sam carried? He knew the burden, but did not understand it.

-I just want to stop... just for a while. - Sam said, with his shoulders curved under an invisible weight - I no longer want to hear that everything will get better, because I no longer believe it. I just... I can't.

Gabriel step ahead, and this time Sam didn't move away, he didn't know what Gabriel could do or say, but at that moment he didn't need the Archangel to say anything. Sam just needed someone to be there, with him, that's all.

- I have no answers, Sam. - Gabriel said finally, with a low voice, almost a whisper - I can't tell you that everything will be fine, because I don't know either, but I'm here, and sometimes, that's all I can do.

Sam closed his eyes, feeling the tiredness flooding every part of his body, for so long he fought alone, believing that he had to carry the burden, which he had to continue, but now, with Gabriel beside him, he allowed himself to relax, just a little.

- Just for today... - Sam murmured, exhausted. - Stay here.

Gabriel nodded silent and approached, as he silently promised that it would not be just for today, Gabriel promised himself that he would be with Sam whenever Sam needed or even Sam did not need, sat next to Sam on the couch. The comfortable silence settled between them; the sound of the rain continued as a distant soundtrack. Sam allowed one to rest for a moment, without the wait for expectations, without the pressure of continuing to fight, only Gabriel's company.

"Let Me Just Stop Trying, Let Me Just Stop Fighting ..."

And in that little motel room, with the world outside continuing its chaotic dance, Sam found himself at peace, even if for a moment.
