A typical roadside diner, with yellow lights and the low sound of a jukebox in the background, was crowded that night. The atmosphere was lively, and the smell of fried food and coffee filled the air. Sam and Dean occupied one of the corner tables, enjoying the rare moment of rest between hunts. They talked about the most recent case, but the lightness of the moment didn't stop Dean from teasing Sam, as he always did.
— So, Sammy — Dean began, with a mischievous smile on his lips. — What's it like dating an archangel who likes to play pranks? Has he ever tried to turn your beer into orange juice?
— Not yet, but he did turn my breakfast into ice cream once, just to see me complain. — Sam replied, rolling his eyes and laughing at the joke.
— Oh, man, that's gold. — Dean laughed, taking a sip of his beer.
Meanwhile, Gabriel and Castiel had gotten up minutes earlier to get more drinks from the bar. It was a casual movement, but Sam noticed that they were taking longer than expected. He glanced towards the bar, only to find a sight that made his chest tighten. Two women had approached the angels. One of them was laughing with her hand resting a little too boldly on Gabriel's arm, while the other did the same to Castiel, clearly trying to start a conversation.
Sam felt a twinge of irritation, he knew Gabriel could handle himself in situations like this, but he didn't like seeing that woman touching his boyfriend at all. Gabriel, on the other hand, maintained his posture, but his discomfort was visible - something in his eyes showed that he was trying not to be rude. Castiel, on the other hand, seemed more lost than usual in social situations, his face was rigid, his expression confused and a little embarrassed, not knowing how to politely walk away.
Dean followed Sam's gaze and frowned.
— Oh, shit. Looks like they're in trouble.
Without a word, Sam stood up, and Dean followed him. The possessive feeling was growing inside Sam, and he couldn't ignore the urge to do something about it. They walked to the counter with silent purpose, Sam's eyes fixed on Gabriel and the discomfort he was clearly trying to hide.
When Sam got close, he didn't hesitate. He wrapped an arm around Gabriel's waist and pulled him to him, and without waiting, Sam leaned in and captured Gabriel's lips in a hot, possessive kiss, his hands gripping the archangel's waist tightly. The kiss was intense, conveying clearly what Sam felt – Gabriel was his, and no one else had the right to touch him like that.
Gabriel, initially surprised, soon relaxed in Sam's arms, responding to the kiss with the same intensity. When Sam finally pulled away, Gabriel's eyes shone with a mixture of amusement and satisfaction.
— Wow, big guy, I knew you wanted me, but this? Here? In front of the whole world? — Gabriel teased, smiling with that mischievous gleam in his eyes.
— I just wanted to remind some people that you already own it. — Sam replied, rolling his eyes, but smiling.
The woman who had been holding Gabriel's arm looked at them, not knowing how to react. She quickly let out an awkward laugh and took a step back, clearly not interested in continuing that conversation.
Meanwhile, Dean had positioned himself next to Castiel, who still looked confused by the previous approach. The woman who was touching him took a step back, looking at Dean with a nervous look. Without saying anything, Dean gave him that threatening look of "you're meddling where you shouldn't be". The woman quickly got the message and walked away, taking her friend with her.
Dean looked at Castiel and patted his shoulder.
— It's okay, Cas. They can't understand that you're already too busy saving the world.
— They... were they trying to be friendly? — Castiel asked, blinking a few times, clearly confused.
— More or less, Cas, more or less. — Dean replied, chuckling softly.
Hearing the comment, Gabriel laughed out loud, still in Sam's arms.
— Oh, Cas, you really need a lesson in human interactions.
Sam let go of Gabriel, but kept his arm around his waist, feeling calmer now that the situation was resolved. Dean returned to the table with Castiel, while Sam and Gabriel followed closely behind. The two women, now separated, whispered to each other as they left the bar. Sam heard one of them comment something like: "Why are all the cute guys always taken?"
Gabriel glanced at Sam, with a satisfied smile.
— I told you, Sasquatch, I'm an irresistible guy.
— Yes, you are and you know it. — Sam agreed, shaking his head with a smile on his lips.
The two returned to the table, and the relaxed atmosphere finally returned. Gabriel was still casting mischievous glances at Sam, clearly satisfied with what had happened. Sam, in turn, was calm. The night had ended in the best possible way - with Gabriel by his side, exactly where he should be.
And deep down, Sam knew that, despite Gabriel's teasing and playful manner, there was something deep between them, something that didn't need to be said. Even in tense moments, like that one, their connection was strong, and no one else interfered with that.
