I looked at Levi, and sighed. He always looks  effortlessly cool. His skin is the perfect blend of his mixed heritage, half black, half white, with the right mix that gives him this smooth, warm complexion. His curly hair is always on point, tight curls that frame his face in a way that seems both relaxed and sharp at the same time.

He’s got that kind of natural handsomeness that doesn't need any effort, just like Uncle Ad. The resemblance is almost uncanny, especially around the eyes and jawline—strong, defined, and unmistakable.

Whenever I see him, it's like looking at a younger version of Uncle Ad, but with his own edge, his own style. He's got that quiet intensity, that I've noticed is only around me.

Levi, has social anxiety, Uncle Ad told me, he can function well when surrounded by us, his family but people he didn't know triggered his anxiety. Uncle Ad said he was okay and that he said he wanted to start over but I wasn't sure he was. Sure he wasn't nervous now but I was going to keep him by my side until I was sure he could handle himself.

What time is your lesson I said as I got in, our new school, Colombia University.

It's in two hours, he signed.

Two hours, why are you here early, forget it, you will be hanging out with me and my friends until it's time for your lesson I said as I parked the car.

No, I wanted to go to the library, and make friends if I'm lucky, I don't want to hang out with you he signed.

Too bad you don't get a say in this,  I promised my uncle's I'll look after you, And I will I said.

He stared at me as if he could kill me, I smirked.

Why are you here, if you don't have an early lesson he signed.

I stay in the dorms, moved in yesterday, I just went back home to grab something, c'mon let's go, I said.

We got out, and I made sure he was next to me as I led us to were my friends where. I kept glancing at him, he seemed okay,. maybe he did get over his social anxiety.

I saw, Aisha, Nate and Matt, my three friends seated at a table. We have been friends since middle school.

Those are my friends I said to him.

Anything I should know, who's is who he signed.

That's Aisha, she stands out in her own way. She’s got this effortless style, the kind of girl who can throw on anything and still make it look good. Her dark hair falls in soft waves, and her eyes are sharp, always noticing the little details. She’s witty, and she’s the one who keeps everyone grounded when things get too wild.

Then we have Nate, he's the loud one in the group—he loves  cracking jokes and bringing the energy, sometimes. Tall and athletic, the black guy , and he’s got this infectious laugh that makes it hard not to join in, even when you’re not sure what’s so funny. He’s the life of the party, always the first to suggest something crazy, but he’s also fiercely loyal. If you’re in his circle, you know he’s got your back no matter what.

Then there’s Matt, who’s more laid-back than the rest. He’s got that classic, all-American look—tall, blond, and easygoing, like nothing ever really fazes him. He’s the quiet observer, not as loud as Nate or as sharp as Aisha, but when he speaks, it’s always something that makes you think, or keep quiet. He’s the steady one in the group, the guy you can always count on to be there when things go sideways I said. I don't even know why I'm telling this to him I could have gone that's Aisha, the girl, the white guy is Matt and the other is Nate.

Nice explanation, he signed, but I was hundred percent sure he was being sarcastic.

I flipped him the bird and sat next to my friends. I pulled him down next to me.

Hi guys this is Levi, I said taking Matt's food.

Hi, they all said and he smiled at them.

How do you know each other Aisha asked.

I forgotten that, even though we are rich and the world knew the grandchildren of the Floyd family, they didn't know Levi, my uncle's decided that due to his anxiety it wa best if the media didn't know about it. My friend's didn't know about him too, and his surname was Prince.

Wouldn't you like to know I said.

You are an ass, Levi how do you know this cold motherfucker Aisha asked.

He looked at her then at me, then looked down.

Shit, Aisha just got ignored, Nate said laughing. Matt stiffled a laugh and Aisha hit Nate.

It's not nice to ignore a beautiful girl, Levi you know that, Aisha asked.

He doesn't talk I said.

Oh shit he's mute, sorry is that rude Nate asked.

No, he just choses not to talk, I explained.

Selective mutism, Matt said.

Yes, I said eating.

Then how did you two become friends, you never mentioned anything about him. He looks like a nice person why would he become friends with a rude obnoxious person like you Nate asked.

Look closely at him, then think about why they are together, Matt said taking his phone out.

Can't you just tell us, always making us think Nate said looking at Levi.

Holy shit he looks like your neurosurgeon uncle, wait doesn't he have two kids, Aisha said.

He does look like him, holy fuck, why don't we know about him Nate asked.

Wouldn't you like to know I replied.

Yes we would, dude c'mon Nate said.

He's uncle Ad's second child, I'll leave it at that I said.

Fucker, Aisha said.

They started talking and I looked at Levi. He seemed withdrawn, I held his hand and he tensed and looked up at me surprised, yeah well that made the both of us.

I have been nice to him today and we both know it . I ignored his daze and continued eating the food I took from Matt. Matt looked at me, then went back to his phone.

I made no effort to remove my hand and Levi didn't either.
