Nightmare sat in his office, his conscience stirring within him. It had been hours since he had last seen you, and something within him felt... off. He rose from his chair, his body instinctively headed back to his room. As he walked, his pace differed from its normal speed. He made it to the room in no time, unlocking the door and walking in. His eyes land on your body, which lay in bed, peacefully unaware of the eerie chill that was filling the room. His eyes focused themselves on you as he drew closer. His mind began to scream at him, demanding him to satiate his deepest, primal need. His pupils thinned into slits as he stared at you. His ears faced forward his he listened to every thump of your heart. Your pulse beckoned to him. He swallowed hard as he could see the blood rushing through your veins, the arteries in your body throbbing with every pump of your heart. He leaned further down. Every part of you roused his instincts to the point that he feared if he gave in to them, he wouldn't be able to stop. His cold claws grazed against your arm as his eyes gazed at your resting features. A part of him did not like how vulnerable you were at that moment. He could easily do anything to you, and you wouldn't be able to stop him. He knew his strength alone was dangerous. His powers were dangerous. He was dangerous. Still, despite this knowledge, he leaned closer, his instincts still attempting to take hold. He growled in frustration, fighting off his overbearing urges. Just before he could do anything, he stopped, turning his head away for a few moments. His fingers gripped your arm slightly as he took a deep breath. He then pulled his paw away, his fingers letting go of your arm and balling into a fist. He pressed a soft kiss to the side of your neck before standing to his full height, taking another deep breath. He sat down near the foot of the bed, running his paws down his face.Fetch, who had been watching Nightmare the entire time, approached Nightmare, nudging his snout to the giant bear's leg. Nightmare looked down at Fetch and smiled lightly. He reached down, petting Fetch.
"I'm okay. I promise," Nightmare said quietly to Fetch. Nightmare glanced back at you for a moment before getting up. He approached the mini bar he had in the room, pouring himself a glass of bourbon and taking a sip. He glanced at the curtained doors that led to the balcony outside. He approached the curtains, drawing one of them aside and opening one of the doors. He took one final glance back at you before slipping outside, quietly shutting the curtain, then the door. He set his glass on the thick, stone balustrade, then reached into his breast pocket, pulling out a cigar. He placed the cigar to his mouth, the end opposite from him suddenly glowing without him having to use a lighter to light it. He drew in a slow, deep breath, holding it for a few seconds before slowly letting out a vast puff of smoke, which swirled in the cool, night air. He leaned on the balustrade, his paw to his face as his elbow touched the stone surface.
"Fuck," he muttered. He had never felt such an array of emotions before, and his mind had never clouded with so much thought. He looked up after a few minutes, staring out at the silhouetted woods that surrounded the hotel. He let out an irritated huff. What was he getting so worked up for? You're just another human whom he had crossed paths with. Why did he feel this way about you? He's a monster. He shouldn't be falling for some human. He paused for a moment. No... you weren't just any human. You're special to him. He could have let that old man back at the bar have his way with you. He could have simply not interfered. But no. He couldn't. He didn't know why he interjected, but he did. Sure, Nightmare had his morals, but... why did he care so much for someone who still feels like a complete stranger to him? He had even gone as far as to sleep with you. He would have never taken it that far with anyone. Not as quickly as he had, that is. He never loved anyone that way before. The only love he had ever felt was towards his mother, but even then, that was a different kind of love altogether. An irrelevant kind of love. It couldn't hold a candle to how Nightmare felt towards you. It was merely incomparable. You were making him feel a stirring sea of emotions he had never experienced previously with anyone else, and it was eating him alive, clawing at him like a beast desperate to be let out. He was never meant to feel this way... at least, he didn't think so.
