A Message to Dove
"He's really laying it on thick, isn't he?" Ron rolled his eyes as he turned around at the table. He and Harry had been listening for twenty minutes to Draco exaggerating his injury to Pansy Parkinson.
"At least Hagrid didn't get fired."
"True, but I heard Draco's father is furious," Hermione leaned in closer so they wouldn't be ease-dropped on. "We haven't heard the end up this."
"Grandmother is pretty powerful, if Lucius goes to the ministry I'll ask her if she can help," Priscilla spoke as she read a muggle book.
"You think she'd do that?" Harry questioned.
Snapping her book shut, the girl thought about it for a second more before shaking her head, "Probably not, but it's worth a try."
"Don't involve her, you'll probably get in trouble for defending Hagrid," Harry ordered.
There was no room to debate from the way he shut down the idea.
"He's been sited, he's been sited!" Seamus yelled out through the Great Hall as he came running towards the four of them at the Gryffindor table.
He slammed the paper in the middle of the group, Hermione was quick to grab it.
"Who?" Ron asked nervously.
"Sirius Black!"
"Dove town?" Hermione gasped.
It wasn't a coincidence that Black had been sited there, the town's name was Priscilla's nickname after all. It was like he was sending her a message, telling her he was coming.
"That's not far from here."
A few students had gathered around now, curious to what was going on.
"You don't think he'd come to Hogwarts do you?" Neville asked from the side of Priscilla.
"With dementors at every entrance?" Another student pointed out.
"Dementors! He's already slipped past them once, hasn't he?" Seamus scuffed. "Who's to say he won't do it again? Let's not forget his daughter is here, he's likely coming to pay Priscilla a visit, wouldn't you say?"
"Over my dead body!" She groaned, placing her forehead on the table.
"That's right, Black could be anywhere. It's like trying to catch smoke," Bem put his two cents in. "It's like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands!"
The girl lifted her head up to stare at the boy.
"Do you always have to do that?" She snapped. "Say something positive for a change, Bem."
Not wanting her friend to pick a fight so soon into the school year, Hermione laid the paper in front of her.
Half the first page was a picture of her father, which quickly grabbed her attention. He looked like a maniac as a guard restrained him by his neck as he held up his prison numbers for Azkaban.
The girl was shocked, this was the first time she had seen a picture of him in a long time. The ones she had seen were from his early childhood, the man looking back at her now looked completely different. But their similarities were uncanny.
They had the same unruly black hair that had a mind of its own. Her sharp features matched his perfectly and their eyes...the same grey but his had a blue tint to them while hers a green. Priscilla never knew her mother, but she was sure she had gotten her nose and lips.
Flipping the page, she almost jumped out of her seat as Walburga's face was on it with an article attached. Her dead eyes barely blinked and not a trace of a smile was found as she sat in a cushioned chair with her black corset dress perfectly in place for the picture. She didn't know where the picture had been taken though because it certainly wasn't at Grimmwauld Place.
