As the tendrils of darkness tightened, Trevor felt a surge of defiance. "You may have taken Mia, but you won't take us!" he shouted, pulling from the depths of his spirit.
Summoning all his strength, he focused on the bond he shared with Nyx—the laughter, the friendship. "Nyx, fight it! We know you're still in there!" he cried.
For a brief moment, Nyx's eyes flickered with recognition. "Trevor... help me!" she pleaded, her voice breaking through the darkness.
"Hold on! We're getting you out of this!" He focused on that glimmer of hope, trying to reach the girl he once knew.
In that moment, Trevor felt a connection—a thread linking him to Nyx. He summoned every ounce of love and friendship, pushing it into the shadows that bound them.
"No!" the dark entity screamed, the shadows writhing as Trevor's energy surged. "You can't—"
With a deafening roar, the tendrils shattered, releasing both Trevor and Aria. Nyx stumbled back, caught in the crossfire of light and darkness.
"Trevor!" Aria shouted, pulling him away as Nyx writhed on the ground. "We need to go!"
But Trevor hesitated, torn between fleeing and helping the girl he once called a friend. "Nyx, fight it!" he yelled, desperation fueling his voice.
In that moment, the darkness around Nyx contorted and twisted, revealing a flicker of her true self. "Help me!" she cried, and for a fleeting instant, Trevor saw the real Nyx behind the malevolence.
"Let's go!" Aria tugged at his arm, urgency crashing over them. They turned to flee, but the darkness lashed out again, threatening to pull them back.
With one last look over his shoulder, Trevor whispered, "I'll find you, Nyx," before they dashed into the trees, the night closing in behind them.
