CHAPTER 18: Don't you dare

NADIA's POV

I rolled my eyes because of Ackier's behavior since we came back to the party. He's been glued beside me with his arm around my waist as if someone was going to steal me away from him. I saw the surprise look on Lester's face upon seeing us but couldn't approach us because he was busy with the program.

Then, it was time to eat.

"What do you want to eat, sweetie baby?" Ackier asked sweetly.

"Hmmm. I don't know. I'll just choose whatever I feel like eating." I was about to stand up to get some food when he spoke.

"Just stay here. I'll be the one to get our food."

"Are you sure? You don't know what I want to eat. You might get something that I don't like." He smiled suavely.

"Don' worry. I got this."

"Okay. It's up to you then." I answered in defeat and he left to get our food. While I was waiting at our table, Tanya came.

"Where have you been a while ago, Ms. Nadia? We've been looking for you. We thought that you got kidnapped or something because you disappeared during the power interruption." She asked with a tinge of concern. I forced a smile.

"I just went out to breath some fresh air. Nothing to worry about."

She nodded her head. "I'm glad you're okay. I almost called Sir Alfonse because I was so worried."

"I told you, I'm fine. Sorry for making you worry."

She finally smiled. "It's okay. Now, I can finally eat without worrying." She stood up and was about to say something, probably wanted to tell me that she would go back to their table, when she noticed something.

"What happened to your neck, Ms. Nadia?" My eyebrows furrowed as I touched the part of my neck that she was staring at.

"Huh? Why?" She was about to answer when Lester approached us and spoke.

"Nads, I'm glad you came back. I thought, you already left." He said with a smile but that smile faded when his gaze went to my neck.

"What happened to you? Is that—" He couldn't say whatever he wanted to say for some reason.

"Look at it, Ms. Nadia." Tanya said as she gave me her compact mirror. I did as I was told and my eyes almost fell out of its socket when I saw the hickeys on my neck! I felt like my body go frozen and didn't know what to say or do.

My cheeks turned red as I covered it with my hand. Why didn't I think about the possibility that I might've a hickey on my neck after what Ackier and I did in the gazebo?

I suddenly wanted the floor to open and swallow me right at that moment so that I could escape that embarrassing situation.

I swallowed hard and was about to tell them an alibi when someone spoke.

"Hey, everyone. You all look serious. What's happening here?" It was Ackier. He put the two plates full of food on our table and then sat next to me.

No one answered and I groaned inwardly.

"Why are you covering your neck with your hand, sweetie baby?" He asked and then removed my hand from doing so. When he saw what I was covering and realized that I was trying to hide it, he smirked.

I could tell that he was about to say something that would give us away so I quicky spoke before he had the chance.

"T-This is some kind of an insect bite. I went to the garden to breath some fresh air and an unknown insect suddenly bit me here. Until now, it's still itchy. I might've scratched it a little too much." I tried to sound normal as possible.
