CHAPTER 19: Oh, my...

NADIA's POV

I could feel the hot stares of Ackier but I tried my best to ignore it. Some people were playing pool volleyball when we got into the pool and Lester and I joined them. After about a minute or so, someone announced that they would be holding an official game and who wants to join the fun. It was three on three.

"Let's play, Nads." Lester said.

"Sure." We ended up in the same team and to my surprise, I saw Ackier on the other team. When Janice saw that Ackier joined the opposite team, she joined them.

I gritted my teeth as she started flirting with him, more open this time. Thankfully, Ackier's gaze was on me and I could see that he wasn't happy. He didn't even break our eye contact.

"Ready, Nads? The game is about to begin." Lester said with a smile and I tried to concentrate on it.

"Wow! I didn't know that you're good in this, Lester." Tanya, who was our third member, said when Lester got the first three points. Ackier didn't even budge as Lester freely scored the first three points.

"Yeah, me either. I'm glad I'm on your team." I said and we high-fived. Lester beamed.

"Well, I love playing any kinds of ball games." He then served the ball and the game continued again.

"Be careful, Nads, Tanya." Lester warned and threw us a glance. I was about to answer when we heard the scream of Tanya.

"Lester, look out!" Thankfully, Lester's reflexes were fast that he managed to cover his face with his hands. Because of that, the ball landed on his wrists area before bouncing out of the pool. The referee whistled.

"Outside! Team A's ball!" He announced, referring to Ackier's team.

"Damn that guy!" I heard Lester grunt while glaring at someone and that someone was none other than Ackier. Looked like he was the one who hit the ball a while ago which almost landed on Lester's face. Now, he's finally moving to play.

"Pay attention to the game." Ackier said tauntingly and I shook my head in disbelief.

"He did that on purpose!" Lester was mad and I could understand why. I shook my head again in disbelief but decided not to comment and just concentrated on the game.

After that, Lester couldn't score anymore because Ackier did everything he could to prevent him from doing so. I couldn't believe that he's actually this good in playing volleyball. Looked like he just gave the first few points to Lester.

Then, it was Janice's turn to serve the ball and I managed to hit it back. Their third member spiked it but I tossed the ball and then Lester spiked it. I thought, we would get a score but Ackier received it nicely and Janice tossed it before Ackier came back for a strong spike.

Tanya tried to receive it but she failed to do so because of the strong impact.

"Damn, Ackier. That was awesome!" Janice praised and the two high-fived. My chest was heaving now while watching them so close like that. There was this gnawing feeling inside of me that was starting to boil.

"Lester, Tanya, let's score!" I hissed and the two nodded their heads. The people were cheering as the game began to heat up.

"Nice one, Lester!" I said merrily when he managed to make a point. The score was now 7-11 and Ackier's team was leading. I was about to raise my hand for a high-five when he suddenly gave me a bearhug.
