CHAPTER 21: Again?

NADIA's POV

I couldn't help but to tear up upon seeing my father at the hospital. I couldn't understand why he didn't want anyone to tell me that he got hospitalized due to overworking.

"Don't cry, sweetie baby. The doctor said that he'll be fine. He just needs to rest." Ackier said and then as he held my hand. I looked at him and he wiped my tears with his thumb while gazing at me ever so gently as if silently telling me that everything would be alright.

"I've never seen him weak like this before. He's already old and seeing him like this is painful here in my heart." He smiled.

"I understand that it's hard for you seeing him like this but just look at the positive side. He'll be fine especially when he sees you. I'm sure, he's going to get surprised that you even came home just for him. He'll be happy for sure." He then enveloped me into a tight embrace.

"Thank you for coming here with me. Even though you're so naughty most of the time, I can't believe that you can be serious like this. You being here with me is a big thing for me. You make me feel better." He chuckled and then kissed me on the forehead affectionately.

When I told him about what happened to my father, he insisted on coming with me. He held me like this because I couldn't help but to cry in so much worry because of the bad news that I received.

According to him, our vacation could wait so I must go home to see my father. I wasn't expecting for him to come with me but I was glad he did.

"You don't need to thank me. You're my woman and wherever you go, I'll be there with you." I chuckled.

"Your woman, huh? You're really claiming me as your girlfriend, huh?" I couldn't help but to get amused.

"You're mine, sweetie baby. Mine." His declaration made my heart thump. He kissed the top of my head before pulling away from me. "I'll just go outside for you to have some privacy with your father." I forced a smile and then nodded my head.

After he exited the room, I sat on the chair next to my father's hospital bed and then held his hand. He was sleeping soundly. He looked so tired. Thankfully, nothing bad had happened to him.

I kissed his hand as my eyes watered once again. I suddenly remembered when I graduated in middle school and I received an academic excellence award...

"Congratulations, sweetheart. You did great!" My fathered said with a wide smile on his face after the ceremony. He hugged me tightly and I couldn't be happier.

Ever since I was young, I was used of receiving awards because I had high grades and my father had always been very proud of me.

"Thank you, daddy! My efforts were paid off!" I enthusiastically answered. He pulled away from me and then kissed my forehead.

"I knew you could do it. I'm sure, you'll do great in high school too. You're smart and I know that you could achieve whatever your dreams are." My lips parted, intending to answer when my mother spoke.

"You shouldn't get contented with this award of yours, Nadia. Make sure that your grades are higher in high school. Just like I've told you before; don't ever let anyone defeat you in anything. Academics or in anything that you want to achieve." The smile on my face disappeared.
