Right after Todo had gotten rid of the unwelcomed insolent cursed spirit, Sukuna got into a room behind the shrine. It was a plain room with a tatami floor. There was a huge cushion, and next to it was a small wooden piece messily carved with the words 'epic spawn point' on the ground. Sukuna sat on the big cozy cushion, much calmer than before.
At first glance, there was nothing special about this room. However, the 'cushion' was actually a squishy cloud-like yokai, tamed and gifted by an Onmyōji. The cloud yokai gave a small chirp when Sukuna got on it. Petting his cloud absentmindedly, Sukuna remarked on the strange cursed spirit that appeared. He could feel the cursed spirit's curse energy was ever-changing. The white hair and the red curse technique, these all matched what the myth of the Six Eyes.
Sukuna's thoughts on the cursed spirit was that it was an aggravating bastard. He kept mocking and riling him up for entertainment. It was frustrating. Though, despite how it had seemed, Sukuna was more intrigued than angry. There was finally an opponent stronger than him.
Sukuna glanced at his cloud and then thought of the cursed spirit lying on top of him like a damn cat. An idea came to mind.
He already had a yokai. He wouldn't mind getting a cursed spirit pet. It'd be a damn infuriating one though.
The cloud was purring as Sukuna kept petting it to pass time. Sukuna didn't want to do anything at the moment, nor did he care at all.
"Bruhzzaaaa-sama!"
Todo was suddenly sitting on the tatami with his hands clasped, replacing the wooden 'spawn point' next to Sukuna's cloud. He reached for a scroll in the sleeve of his kimono and handed it to Sukuna, "I've got it. Took it from the Emperor's palace library."
Sukuna didn't question how Todo managed it or his sudden appearance. He knew Todo could always go to different places no matter how impossible it seemed. Sukuna had been curious once, but Todo's answer was that his intelligence was out of bounds. Sukuna had decided that he would never understand his servant's delusional ways.
Sukuna took the scroll and rolled it open. Todo scooted closer, casually invading Sukuna's personal space and reading it together. The scroll was neatly written with words of a different Japanese dialect of the Nara era. That normally shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Unfortunately, they were both illiterate. Sukuna never had the opportunity to learn as an unwanted child, and Todo just skipped school.
Those words were more like alien symbols to Sukuna. It hurt his brain. Sukuna said, "There are supposed to be pictures."
"Not even my otherworldly intelligence can make sense of these. Sukuna-sama, I think the only ones with pictures are copies of this original scroll. Should I get them?"
Sukuna knew it was a genuine question and not a taunt. But it was still another blow to his pride. Sukuna tsked, "No" After all that had happened to day, Sukuna was pretty sure his pride was shattered to pieces, stomped on, powered, melted, and evaporated.
Sukuna had already seen those copies. He just wanted to see the original one for a true depiction of the Six Eyes. It appeared he had wasted his time for nothing.
Chirp, chirp. Sukuna and Todo looked at the cloud. The cloud was reaching for the scroll with its soft short round hands. Sukuna put it into its hands. The scroll had no use to him anymore.
The cloud chirped a few more times and waved it in the air happily. With a swift movement, the cloud ate the scroll.
Todo spluttered and laughed, "I spent so much time sneaking past royal guards- Come on!"
