Time skip

It was late into the afternoon, yet the jade-eyed girl was still fast asleep, her limbs awkwardly entangled in the cool white sheets. A trail of drool ran from the corner of her lips as she snored softly.

A resounding knock sounded from the door, causing her to stir a bit, mumbling.

Another knock came, this time a bit louder, successfully waking the girl from her slumber. She let out an aggravated yell into her pillow, before throwing the covers off herself and storming over to the door.

The door flew open at breakneck speed, a string of curses and insults right on the tip of her tongue for whoever decided to rudely awaken her. "Listen motherfuc—" she started, but immediately stopped when she saw that it was Vangeance standing outside.

He smiled upon seeing her, "Good morning Yve, sorry to intrude. The captain sent me to wake you up,"

"Unfortunately you slept through breakfast, but I saved you a bit," he said, raising up a tray with cup of coffee that still had steam rising from it, and a plate with a piece of toast on it.

Yve stared down at it for a moment, then back up at him. It was a thoughtful gesture, he was always so sincere towards her, that she decided to bite back any insults she may have had. Even if she did find it to be annoying at times, he was one of the only people here that she could tolerate.

She cleared her throat awkwardly, accepting the tray, "Thanks..."

He nodded in acknowledgment, "You should eat and get ready. The star festival is today—well in a few more hours to be exact, since you overslept." He pointed out, a hint of amusement in voice.

She'd completely forgotten about that. It'd already been a year since she'd joined the Grey Deer, and each year they held the Star Festival to celebrate the accomplishments of each squad. It was a big deal in the Clover Kingdom, people coming from all over to see the Magic Knights.

"Should've slept longer then," she muttered. "What a waste of time."

William laughed a bit, "You know how important it is to the captain—besides, it might be fun."

"Oh yeah—a bunch of sweaty people, screaming brats, and vendors trying to rip people off. Sounds like a blast!" Her voice dripped with sarcasm.

"Not only that, they'll be announcing the winner of the Star contest. You know, I heard the squad that earns the most stars gets a bonus—"

"Hell, why didn't you say so sooner?! I'll be out in a bit!" She exclaimed, shutting the door to get ready.

Night has fallen and the Star Festival is just kicking off to a start. Various tents were set up in the town square, people beginning to crowd the streets and amuse themselves in the meantime.

The Grey deer were the third squad to arrive, the Silver Eagles and Crimson Lion Kings being first and second respectively.

Yami and Morgen went to check out the food vendors, leaving Yve and William by themselves.

"You know, you could've went with them," She pointed out as they walked over to an area where a crowd gathered to watch people dancing.

"Yes, but I wanted to keep you company. Perhaps it'll make the festival more enjoyable." He responded, smiling at her.

"Lady Yve!" She heard someone call out, she turned to see an auburn haired male walking over to them.
