"Is that all you got, shrimp?!" A voice boomed from the treetops, flames flying in Yve's direction.
The girl quickly moved out of the way, before jumping into the air to meet her attacker. Green eyes clashed with turquoise ones, feral grins stretching across their faces. "I won't lose to you, Mereleona!" Yve shouted as the older mage exchanged punches with her, dodging and blocking every now and again.
The eldest vermillion smirked, "It seems that you're having a bit of trouble landing a hit on me. What's wrong, can't keep up?" She laughed tauntingly.
Yve growled angrily, "Shut up...!" Raising her leg, she swiped it over her head, creating a large gust of wind that cut off the top of a tree. Mereleona raised her head to watch as it began to fall, waiting until the last minute to punch it, incinerating it with her flames.
To her surprise, Yve came barreling through the wall of flames like a madman, punching her in the stomach. Mereleona could feel as the wind was knocked out of her lungs as she was sent hurling backwards. Stabilizing herself, she moved her body upright, her feet skidded against the dirt as she landed on the ground.
The fire user winced as she touched her stomach, "Oi, you actually managed to hurt me. Not bad, Gorgona!" She complimented, before readying herself to attack again.
"Love Magic: Seismós Agapis! (Tremors of Love) extending her fists and sending bursts of mana from them. Clouds formed from the amount of force exerted on the atmosphere, Mereleona tried to activate her reinforcement magic, but it was too late. She fell onto her knees as a wave of dizziness suddenly washed over her, she held her head in her hands trying to ease the buzzing in her ears.
She felt the bile rising up into her throat, before she violently emptied her guts onto the ground. After she was finished, Mereleona wiped her mouth with her sleeve, 'At this age, she already has this much mastery over her magic affinity?' She wondered, looking up at the younger mage.
Her eyes wandered over to the four-leaf clover on her grimoire. 'Only one mage in history has possessed that grimoire...'
"Oi," Yve called out, stopping in front of her. "Were you really trying? Usually our fights are much closer." She said while crossing her arms.
Mereleona growled at her, "Don't let it get to your head just because you managed to catch me off guard with that attack!" Standing to her feet, she towered over her junior's form.
"This is the first time we've fought since you've gotten your grimoire. Though, I never expected your magic to be this versatile.." She admitted, resting a hand under her chin before grinning.
"Now I can see why Master Acier was so hellbent on training you. She must've recognized your potential from the beginning," Mereleona said, closing her eyes. "I hear that you've joined the Gray Deer—"
Suddenly, a paw made of fire grabbed Yve by the sides of her head, lifting her in the air. "You know, it was her dream for you to be apart of her squad! Why have you chose to dishonor her wishes?!"
She scoffed, "And put up with Nozel? I'll pass. Besides, his dad's a major asshole—guess that's who he got it from..."
"And why not the Crimson Lion Kings?!"
"Ah, let's just say your old man isn't too fond of me either..."
Mereleona dropped Yve before extinguishing her flames, "Not that I care about the Magic Knights, but if I'm being honest—someone with as much potential as you should be on one of the best squads, no?"
