The sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air as  Felix stirred awake, the bright lights above him stinging his eyes. He blinked rapidly, trying to shake off the fog of confusion and pain that enveloped him.

Now lay on a hospital bed, his body heavy with bandages and bruised. Panic bubbled within him as he tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot on his head forcing to back down. He groaned, the sound echoing in the empty room.

"Easy there," a soft voice said, breaking the silence. Felix turned his head slowly to see a nurse adjusting the IV drip. Her calm demeanor brought him a flicker of comfort. "You're safe. Just relax and let the medicine do it's magic."

Felix slightly nodded, his throat dry as he attempted to speak. "The...boy..." He managed ,his voice a hoarse whisper. The nurse paused, " We don't know who he is but you should thank him for saving your life. Anyway what happened? Do you remember what led you to this state?"

His mind raced, flashes of the confrontation with Talia and his brother flooding back. Anger surged within him but he pushed it aside as a wave of despair washed him. "I...can't remember," he lied.

The nurse gently shook her head, "It is fine, you should focus on your recovery right now."

Felix closed his eyes, the weight of the world pressing down on him. He couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal and loss. He had been ready to propose to Talia, to start a new chapter in their lives and now everything lay in ruins.

Just then, the door creaked open and a familiar face stepped inside. Jackson stood there, worry etched across his features. Felix's heart skipped a beat, a rush of conflicting emotions crashing over him.

"Felix," Jackson said, rushing to his side. "I heard what happened. I was so worried."

Felix felt a flicker of warmth admist the darkness. "Jackson," he breathed feeling a mixture of relief and guilt. "What...what are you doing here?"

"Is it a crime to check on my friend? if it is sue me," Jackson replied.

"I'm fine," Felix said trying to brush off the concern. "Just...just banged up a bit," Jackson's eyes searched Felix's face, a mixture of worry and affection. "Felix we've been friends for long, so am not buying this act so tell me the truth and I mean the entire truth."

Felix narrated the entire incident while tears rolling from his eyes. Jackson placed his hand on Felix shoulder, his gaze unwavering. "You are not alone. Whatever your decision is I will always support you never forget that."
