The two skywing adults were standing over the young dragon, looking down at him with disgust. Their eyes were narrowed at him, both filled with anger. The child looked small and weak, his little body shaking with fright.

He flinched when one of the skywing adults raised their paw to hit him again. "Worthless," one snarled. "Should've never hatched you..." The baby whimpered.

Raindrop hated this, hated how they were treating him. That poor hatchling, he didn't deserve this. Raindrop wanted to help, wanted to stand up for him, but she didn't know how. I must help the poor thing, he doesn't deserve treatment like this. She thought.

"Hey!" She called.

"What do you want, Mudwing?" Asked the mother, sneering at her.

"You have no right to treat the poor hatchling like that! He's done nothing wrong!" She said to them, sending a sneer right back.

"Why don't you stay out of our business, mud roller?" The father snarled, snapping at the child and Raindrop. He growled at the hatchling, lashing his tail.

The hatchling sunk low, and tried to become small, to small to see. He shivered in fear, afraid of what his father might do.

Raindrop couldn't take this. This was horrible! Why would anydragon ever treat others like that? Much less thier own hatchling? Raindrop wanted to scream and slash and bite and be angry at the parents, but that wouldn't be the right thing to do. A good dragon wouldn't start a fight unless the other initially started it, unless they hurt them first.

But raindrop wanted to slash and roar and defend the poor hatchling, barely able to stand.

Raindrop snarled. "I'm not going to stay out of your 'business' if you're going to hurt that poor dragonet!" She scolded, baring her teeth at the parents. This dragonet will be under her care before she's done. He'll have his two wonderful big brothers, Stag and Frog, and his unhatched younger sibling. If she gets him- no- when she gets him.

"What does this useless wingless dragonet mean to you??" The mother snarled. "Nothing, I would say. He's our hatchling and we will do whatever we'd like with him!" The mother said, shivering at the thought of him being their dragonet.

Raindrop hated this, hated the parents, hated the way they treated the poor hatchling. She came up closer prepared to push the parents away and scoop up the dragonet. She got closer and closer ready to grab the baby.

"I won't let you." Raindrop growled, low and menacing, showing her anger at the parents. She fought back all of the roaring and biting and fighting, for the sake of the hatchling. "I'm not going to allow you to abuse this poor thing! I don't give a crap if you don't like it!" She said.

The father growled, lashing his tail.

"And I don't give a crap if you don't like what we're doing! Like I said before, but you're just a stupid, stubborn, mudwing who won't listen, it is our dragonet! And you can be angry about it!" The mother said.

Raindrop snarled. She saw a movement, a swift flick of a tail, and whipped her head toward the father and the baby. He's going to hurt him! No, no, that's not happening! Raindrop thought fiercely. She ran as fast as she could to shield the baby. She got inbetween the father and the baby as fast as she could.
Smack! The fathers tail left a red mark on her side from where he had hit her with his tail. She winced, wanting to curl into a ball and scream from pain, but didn't, refusing to give up protecting the hatchling.

The father gasped, not expecting Raindrop to take the blow for the wingless baby. He growled, still angry that she stopped him. Raindrop quickly stood on her hind legs and threw out her arms. "You're not gonna hurt him!" She exclaimed, refusing to move. "I won't let you!"
