Sunstone slowly opened his eyes to a golden sunrise through the window in thier sleeping cave. Only Radiance was up, looking drowsy and laying on the cave floor in the sunlight spilling through the window.
He looked around, seeing all his clawmates still snoozing in thier beds.
Radiance looked up, a teensy bit startled when she heard Sunstone rustling.
"Oh." She said, her voice still a little hoarse from sleep. "You are up pretty early today."
"Mmh." He grunted, nodding his head and barely holding his eyes open. "I don't know why I'm up this early. I usually sleep in." He said with a yawn, his voice even more hoarse than Radiance's.
She nodded, laying her head back down as she stretched out her body in the sunlight.
Sunstone navigated his eyes to the clock on the wall. 6:45 am. Way earlier than he usually gets up.
He stretched his legs out one by one, ending with his tail. It shook slightly as he stretched. He finished stretching and grunted.
He mosied his way to the deck, and sat down, watching the sun rise in the cool, crisp air.
He saw Radiance walk out to join him.
"More sun shining out here." He said to her. "Smart if you wanna get some." He smiled.
"That was exactly what I was was doing." She agreed.
Sunstone nodded, enjoying the warm sun and the cooler, crisp air at the same time.
"I heard they make coffee for dragons who want some down in the cafeteria at about six forty-five." He said. "It's about seven now."
"I sometimes drank coffee back in the rainforest, but usually we got our coffee beans fresh from the trees." She said. "We can go try it out if you want to. I'm willing. Only because I'm bored out of my mind, that is." Radiance said, stretching and grunting on the deck floor.
"I don't see why we couldn't." Sunstone said. He got up, and walked in. "They won't care if I have bed scales. I'm sure every dragon there does to." he said.
"I'm going all bed scaled. And I'm a princess. A heir to the throne. It's fine." She said. She grabbed her dazzling see through throw over and threw it over her shoulders and put her wings through the hole.
"Still gotta have a bit of pizzaz, huh?" Sunstone said, winking.
"Mhm." Radiance said.
They walked out of the door.
"I would rather fly there, but I guess for the sake of you, I'll stay here and chat." Radiance said.
"Oh, thanks I guess." Sunstone said with a slight chuckle.
"There's something I have been noticing." She said.
What has she been noticing? He thought. "What- what is it?"
"It's to do with Viper. Every time she's around you, you act a little... you know.. jittery and weird.. sort of." She answered, still not even looking at him.
He widened his eyes. Was he that obvious? Could Viper tell as well? If so, how long until she points it out to him? If she does?
"And I just wanted to ask something." She said.
"What?"
"Do you like Viper?" She asked him, finally looking at him.
"Oh, yes, of course I like Viper! She's a great friend!" He said, smiling.
"No- no.. as in.. crush like." She elaborated.
"Oh." How does she know? How can I be that obvious?? He thought. "I- don't say anything- okay?" He said, pointing a claw at her.
She put one talon up. "I swear on that one sloth my.. friend? I don't know what to call her but that one sloth that the dragon I'm close to in a way I do not want to elaborate on right now owns." She said.
"Okay..." he said nervously. "I.. I do have a crush on her."
Radiance cover her mouth with happy eyes. "MMMMMMHHHHHPHHHGGG" She sqeeled, muffled by her talon.
"What-? What is it? RADIANCE WHAT IS IT?" Sunstone asked frantically.
"SHE LIKES YOU TO!" She said, a little louder than she meant for it to come out.
Sunstones jaw dropped, and they walked into the cafeteria.
Radiance pushed his jaw back closed, and they walked up to the bar.
"Hi, can I get one coffee, not black, put some cream in it please if that's okay, and Sunstone?"
Sunstone stared out to space his mind whirling with happy, and a few worry thoughts.
"Sunstone!" Radiance said a little louder to get Sunstone's attention.
He snapped out of his trance, "Oh- heck- what?" He asked, bewildered.
"What kind of coffee do you want?" She said, with a small hint of irritation in her voice.
"Oh, not fully black but pour a little cream in there so it has a little bit of bitter but still some sweet. Sorry- too specific I'm sure.." he said.
"No, no, that's perfect!" The lunchroom worker said, holding up his talon.
"Oh, okay." Sunstone said with a smile.
The worker smiled back at him and called thier order to the rest of the kitchen.
"I'm going to sit in that sunny table over there." Radiance said, walking to the table. "Sunstone can you get my coffee? I don't want to get up." Radiance yawned.
"Oh, yes, sure I can." He replied, still waiting for the coffees.
"Here you go." The kitchen worker said, handing him his coffees.
"Thank you!" He said, going to the table Radiance was at. "So.. about.. the me and viper... situation.." he started.
"Oh my MOONS! She ADORES YOU!!" Radiance said a little louder than Sunstone would have been comfortable with.
"Please- please, be a little quieter." He said.
"Oh- sorry I didn't notice how loud I was getting. I'm just exited! She's been talking to me about you for the two days we've been here!" She said, sipping her coffee after. "Ooh, this isn't bad." She muttered to herself.
"I know, this coffee is pretty good." He agreed, taking a sip as well.

They finished thier coffee, and they decided it was time to head back and get ready for classes. They start at eight thirty in the morning, and it's nearly seven fifty.
They walked back to their sleeping cave, just chatting.
They walked in, and Viper, Lunarpool, and Corroborre (surprisingly) was up.
