Chapter 12 - The Calm Before The Storm

We wanted the hundred to have a better chance at survival so we decided to train them, from gun use to combat
"So how do we do this without making them hate us?" Nate asked
"They still will hate the training but if it gives them a chance at survival it doesn't matter" Bellamy defended
"Okay then, let's divide them into three groups"
"I'll take guns" Nate said
"Then we'll take combat"
"Let's do this" Bell said before all three of us walked out the tent, everyone was training except the gunners and well Clarke, she's our princess and doctor so we didn't push it plus all three of us know she hates violence. There was about twenty five people on each group
"So who wants to be the first victim?"
"I'll do it" Monroe said as she walked into the center of the circle and we started circling each other
"Whenever you want" I taunted and she threw a punch at me face which I quickly blocked as I said
"First lesson: don't let the pressure of the situation get to you" Monroe tried again but she didn't threw the punch at the right place or speed which ended up with me catching her arm and twisting just about enough to inflict a little pain the kick her feet so she'd fall
"Second lesson: focus on your opponent, think before you attack" after that the delinquents looked more focused and stronger, of course I beat all their asses multiple times but they were getting better, their tries more calculated and thought through instead of just instinct. After an hour and a half we decided they had trained enough for today. All the groups were back together into one group when out of nowhere a boy yelled
"Can you and Bellamy fight?" Bellamy and I looked at each other and we both smirked, we both had wanted to train together since well a really long time.
"Don't see why not" I answered then people started making a circle for us. I'm definitely kicking his ass. He's never seen me fight. This is gonna be so fun. Wait, did he seriously just take off his shirt? Okay focus, deep breaths
"Ready to lose love?" Bellamy taunted as we circled each other with me trying my best to not stare at his abs
"Come on Tinker-Bell everyone here knows you're gonna lose" I said knowing he hated the nickname. He threw the first fist towards my face and I caught his hand twisted it but he saw it coming, he put into chokehold so I elbowed him in the stomach and kicked his feet under him but he dragged me with him so I fell on top of him then we fought for the upper hand but he was losing and he knew it so out of nowhere he kissed me, it completely took me by surprise first because well we haven't exactly talked and well we're fighting. He rolled us over so he'd be on top then he stopped
"Really?" I asked as we fought for the upper hand which at the moment he had
"There's no rules so yes really" Bell said
"Madds we have a meeting wrap it up" Clarke yelled and I snapped my focus came back and I stopped seeing Bellamy I saw my opponent, so I kicked him where the sun doesn't shine and pulled him off of me. Damn I'm awesome. The delinquents clapped and I smirked
"This was- fun. Nate help him up. See you around loser" I said before walking away and I could definitely feel him rolling his eyes at me
"I've never seen you get distracted on a fight" Clarke said and I had a feeling I knew where this conversation was going and the plan was to avoid it at all costs
"And you never will blondie"
"Well I think I just did" Clarke said
"I beat his ass"
"Yeah but when he kissed you your focus literally died for a couple seconds until I yelled, that's when you snapped" Clarke pushed
"Give me a break Clarke"
"Do you-" Clarke started but I wasn't gonna let her finish that question, I already knew the answer and I knew she probably knew too, she just wants to hear me say it
"Don't finish that sentence"
"So you do" Clarke said with a growing smile
"No" I lied not looking up to her, if I did she'd probably know I'm lying. Damn I've really lost my lying skills.
"Whatever you say" Clarke said as we walked in the medical tent
"Anyways, what did you need me for?" I asked
"I need you to get more of these plants" Clarke said as she showed me three jars with different plants
"Alright I'll get it when we go hunting"
"Thanks I-" Clarke was abruptly interrupted by people yelling outside
"Fire in the smoke house. Octavia and Skye are in there" A girl called Fox said running up to us. I didn't think twice before rushing towards the smoke house, I got in it was suffocating
"Maddi?" Octavia asked
"Sis?" Skye asked
"Stay where you are, and don't breathe anymore smoke" I said as I did my best to get to them I felt my lungs burning but I couldn't care less, I need them safe
"I got you both sisters. You'll be fine" I said while putting my arms around their waists and getting them out, as soon as I got them out some people surrounded us but I couldn't see it I felt my lungs burn I let them with the people and walked away from the crowd and started coughing non stop
"Maddi" Bellamy yelled
"Hey sit down" Bell said as he helped me get to a log and sit down
"Deep breaths love" Bell said as he crouched down in front of me and I did as told
"Thanks you"
"Of course. You okay love?" Bell said
"Yeah. How are my sisters?"
"They're both fine. Don't ever run into a fire like that again, you could have died" Bell said
"But they're both fine"
"Yeah but that doesn't justify you putting your life on the line like this sweetheart" Bell reasoned
"If they are safe everything is justified Bell"
"Love-" Bellamy started but was interrupted by two bodies hugging me
"You two okay?"
"We're fine Maddi. You?"
"I'm fine. And neither of you are ever working on the meat house"
"But-" Octavia started
"No buts Maddi is right" Bellamy said
"Whatever lets go Skye" Octavia said
"So, any idea what happened?" Clarke asked as she came to us
"Murphy says that Del kept feeding the fire, mostly because Octavia told him it was a bad idea" Bellamy explained
"And we believe Murphy?"
"I do" Bell said.
"We have some wild onions and nuts in the dropship. It's only enough to last us maybe one or two weeks. What's left here?"
"Nothing. It all burned" Bell explained
"We have to hunt. Anyone we can spare goes out"
"With the whole Grounder army out there?" Bell asked
"Madds is right, we can't defend ourselves if we're starving" Clarke said, about ten minutes later we had all the hunters we could get and Bellamy was explaining the 'rules' which of course I wasn't gonna follow but the delinquents had to.
"Each group takes someone with a gun, and they're for killing Grounders, not food. We don't have the ammo. Use the spears for hunting. Get what you can. Be back by nightfall. No one stays out after dark" Bell finished. Be back by nightfall? Yeah right. I'm not only going hunting, I'm going to the lake to get washed u, I need to get Clarke's plants, and I want to train with Alec.
"Maddi, we need more ammo" Bell said
"Let's talk to Raven then"
"We need more ammo" Bell said as we walked into Raven's tent. She was packing?
"That's it till Jasper gets back. Now get out of my tent" Raven said
"Where you going?"
"The hell out of here" Raven said while closing up her bag
"No way. You're not leaving" Bell stopped her
"Really? And what makes you think you can tell me what to do? Aren't you a janitor?" Raven said
"Raven" I said in a warning tone
"Where you gonna go?" Bellamy asked Raven
"Into these damn woods. Don't worry about it. I'll find someplace safe" Raven said. Why would he worry about it?
"Just wait. Don't be an idiot. You go alone, and you're dead or worse" Bel, said stopping Raven again and I felt this weird thing in my chest.
"So what's your plan, sit here until you run out of bullets?" Raven asked with sass
"Yeah. Or until you come up with something better. Come on, Raven. You came down here in a pod you rebuilt yourself. You made a bomb out of a tin can. What else you got in that head of yours?" Bell asked in a soft tone and the weird thing in my chest felt as if it was burning
"Radios. We can't defend ourselves if we can't communicate. If we can build radios, walkie-talkies- Then we can fight as a team. We'd have a chance, at least" Raven said
"See? We need you. You may be a huge pain in the ass, but you're smart" Bell said
"I'm gonna go, I'll see you both when I'm back from hunting"
"Wait you can't go alone" Bell stopped me
"I do have partner. I'll see you both later" I lied then walked out of the tent. I need time for myself. I walked out of camp and went to the lake, I took off my jacket, my shirt, boots, and pants, leaving me only in underwear, I walked in the lake. After I cleaned myself I got up and went hunting, I used the bow and quiver Alec gifted me and caught a deer, three squirrels and a couple chipmunks. Then I got the plants Clarke asked for which were not really that far away from camp. I was exhausted to say the least and it was already nearly nightfall so I decided I'd go back to camp,rest, help Raven with the radios and then sneak out to see my best friend, I wanted Sky to see him since she always saw him as a big brother so I figured I'd take her with me when I sneak out tonight.
I walked back to camp to be greeted by Elijah, the boy from when I was running back to camp yesterday.
