Will didn't text me for a few days. It was horrible. All I did was stare at my phone and wait for him to text or call me. My mom said to get out of the house and away from my phone. I refused and just stayed home and watched TV all day. On the fourth day of silence I checked my phone. No text, but it was 6:30 and I had just sat all day. Right after that my phone started ringing and I jumped and I didn't even look to see who it was before I picked it up because I was so excited.
"Hello?"
"Hey Bea."
It was Becka.
"Becka! Darn it!"
"Well I feel loved."
"Sorry. I've been waiting for Will to call or text me."
"Has he texted you since the mall?"
"Nope."
"Well we need to get out and make you stop thinking about getting a text. I was actually calling to see if you wanted to go to the Shark game with me at 7."
The Sharks are the local baseball team that have a few home games in the summer. Becka and I went to all of the games last summer.
I got up to check the calendar. Nothing was on the calendar for tonight.
"I guess."
"Come on Bea! Get off your butt!"
"For your information I am actually standing up at the moment."
"Go outside. Literally, I am outside of your house in my car. Get changed and lets go to the game!"
I poked my head out of the front door and sure enough, Becka was sitting in the front seat waving at me. I waved back.
"Okay, okay." I hung up the phone and went to my room and got out of my pajamas.
"Mom I'm going to the Shark game with Becka!"
We went to the game and sadly the Sharks lost, 6 to 7. It was a good game though.
It reminded me of that game I went to when I was little. I was probably 7 or 8 at the time. The score was really close and my favorite player, number 5, got a home run and I screamed really loud. They won the game because of that home run. He found me at the end of the game and gave me an autograph and I got a picture with him. He was my hero. I still have that picture and autograph in a frame under my bed. I used to have it up in my room, but I took it down when I had redone my room. He doesn't play for the team anymore but every once in a while he will go to their games. He still remembers me and knows me by name. To be honest, he is still my hero.
When we got home I went right past my phone, up the stairs, and into my bedroom. I looked through the box under my bed until I pulled out the picture and autograph. I looked at it for a while and laughed at myself in the picture because I looked so happy and excited to meet him. I put it on my bed and smiled.
