Jungkook's Pov…

"Hey," I mumbled sleepily as I answered the phone, noticing Tae's name flashing on the screen. Lately, he had been calling me at this ungodly hour, pouring his heart out over his devastating split with Maple. It was the first time I had seen him so utterly shattered over a woman, and it was starting to worry me.

"Hey, Kookie. I'm really sorry for disturbing your sleep," Jade's voice echoed through the phone, filled with regret.

"Why are you using Tae's phone to call me? And where are you guys right now?" I asked, stifling a yawn as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. "Hello... Jade... are you still there?" I questioned, growing anxious as silence filled the line.

"Yeah, I'm still here," she replied, her voice laced with exhaustion.

"Where are you? And where's Tae?" I asked again, concern threading through my words.

"We're at a club," Tae slurred, his words barely coherent.

"Jade, are you drunk too? And where's Jimin?" I asked, my worry escalating as I imagined the potential dangers they could face if they were all intoxicated. Normally, I wouldn’t be this concerned, knowing Jade's moderate drinking habits. But ever since her breakup with Barney, she had been drowning her sorrows in alcohol, and that worried me a lot.

"Barney's here too," Tae blurted out, his words slurred and muddled. My concern deepened instantly, knowing the volatile nature of Jade’s relationship with Barney. The combination of alcohol and their tumultuous history was a recipe for disaster.

"What damn club?" I demanded, now fully awake, sitting up on the edge of my bed.

"We're actually at my place," Jade’s voice rushed out, her tone filled with urgency.

Without hesitation, I abruptly ended the call and switched to a Google Meet video call. My gut told me I needed to see for myself.

"Look, Kookie. Take a good look. See, I'm at home," she exclaimed as soon as the call connected, swiftly maneuvering her phone to capture the room’s surroundings. Her voice was tinged with confusion as she added, "I can’t fathom why Tae would deceive you like that." She then redirected the camera back to herself.

"I did it to stir things up. And boy, did it work like magic. I knew that mentioning you being at a club with Barney nearby would jolt him awake. To be honest with you, Jade, I think his reaction would've been the same if I had told him you were spending time with any guy," Tae blurted out, barely containing his laughter.

"Dammit, Tae. You always know how to push the boundaries," I grumbled into the phone. "And what the hell are you doing at Jade's house at this time of night, drunk?"

"Firstly, I'm not drunk! Secondly, Jade and I are just catching up since she couldn’t hang out with Jimin and me last week because of you guys' so-called busy schedules," he defended, his tone a mix of irritation and amusement.

"Where’s Jimin?" I asked, stepping into my closet and pulling out some clothes.

"He had to leave early because he has work today and I'm sorry for calling you this late at night," Jade replied softly.

"Don't worry about it. I know you wouldn’t have called me if Tae hadn’t pestered you into it," I reassured her, slipping into a pair of black baggy joggers, a white t-shirt, and my black leather jacket. I grabbed a black New York baseball cap and pulled it down over my disheveled hair.
