Kookie's POV…
Once I had informed my parents, Jimin and Taehyung, about my weekend plans, I embarked on a thorough inspection of each room, meticulously ensuring that all the lights were switched off, except for a lamp sitting on top of the oval glass coffee table. A wave of contentment washed over me as I gazed at the soft, welcoming glow emanating from the lamp. Its warm ambiance filled the living room, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity.
Walking towards the front door, I mentally checked off the remaining items on my mental checklist: cell phone, keys, and travel bag securely in my grasp. Casting a final glance at my neatly arranged living room, I stepped out into the world, closing and locking the door behind me with a sense of finality.
I let out a heavy sigh when I heard Akiyo’s voice from behind me. "You're going somewhere late this afternoon, I see." For the past three consecutive days, she had persistently appeared at my doorstep, begging me to give her another chance. Today, I anticipated no deviation from this pattern.
"Yes, I am, and I'm already behind schedule," I fibbed, swiftly bypassing her and making my way toward the elevator. I was actually leaving the house a little ahead of schedule to pick Jade up from her place.
"Then we can discuss our relationship in the elevator," Akiyo blurted out, causing me to abruptly stop moving forward.
Turning to face her, I asserted, "How many times must I reiterate that there is no longer an 'us'? We are not getting back together!"
"And how many times must I remind you that you don't have the authority to dictate when our relationship ends?" she fired back.
"Once again, it seems futile to engage in conversation with you. I'm leaving, and I kindly request that you refrain from following me." I let out a weary sigh before making my way toward the elevator. Deep down, I knew it was mere wishful thinking to believe that Akiyo would listen to my request.
"And pray tell, where might you be headed to and with whom?" she inquired, leaning against the elevator wall and fixing her gaze upon me.
"Where I'm headed and who accompanies me are no longer your concern."
Akiyo's sneer pierced through her words as she spat, "Where are you going?" I chose to disregard her, fixing my gaze on the descending numbers on the elevator panel.
"Answer me!" Her demand grew angrier as she positioned herself directly in front of me, blocking my view. Still, I peered over her shoulder, silently pleading for the countdown to hasten its pace.
"Where are you and Jade headed off to this late at night?" she pressed, grabbing hold of my face and forcing me to look at her.
"Respect my boundaries and step away," I retorted, seizing her hand and firmly pushing it down by her side. "And what gives you the impression that I'm going anywhere with Jade?"
"Because lately, she's the only person you've been seen with, and the only one you seem to care about!"
"Why is it any of your concern who I choose to spend my time with?" I calmly questioned, maintaining my unconcerned composure.
"Because I have a right to know who my man is spending all his free time with when he's not with me," she angrily spat.
"It's amusing how you can be so lost in your own delusions at times." Exiting the elevator, I turned back to face her and added, "Enjoy your weekend with the imaginary version of me, if that’s what makes you happy." Walking away, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to be cautious and perhaps consider taking legal action to protect myself and those around me.
