Spinel backhanded Steven away from Connie's body, he slid back but quickly regained his footing.

"Aw, what's the matter, Steven? Miss your friend already? Well, don't worry. You're right behind her!"
Spinel said mockingly as she made her hands massive and swung at Steven.

He caught both hands with slight ease; as he lifted his head, Spinel's eyes widened, seeing the anger in Steven. Just then, he pulled Spinel towards him with full force; he punched Spinel's gem out of her body, causing her to poof.

Steven grabbed her gem and looked at it; with no other words, he cocked his fist back with a bubble forming around it.

"Connie!?"
A voice cried out, snapping Steven out of it. He looked back in Connie's direction, seeing the Crystal gems standing over Connie's body.

"Steven, Co-Connie is-"
Pearl gasped and interrupted Amethyst, Garnet, and the other all looked up at Steven, seeing Steven's newly formed Diamond eyes.

"S-steven? What happened? Where is Spinel!?"
Pearl urgently asked, Steven quickly ran up to Connie and picked her head up. He quickly kissed her on the lips, as his lips made contact, Connie's body began to glow, stunning the others. The light fades away and reveals her pink skin tone and light pink hair.

"Connie!"
Steven remembered that scene as it was burned into his retinas; he opened his eyes, revealing the incident from years ago. He found himself standing in the destroyed forest caused by him and Jasper. Just then, he snapped his fingers, and a bubble appeared in his hand, revealing it to be Spinel's gem.

"Four years, I've kept you in this bubble so you wouldn't cause anybody else any harm. Because of you, Connie's family hates me; they wish that I'd died a long time ago, all because of you."

He said to himself; just then, Spinel's gem began to glow, making Steven toss her a few feet away from him. She regained her form once more, and she dropped to the ground, slightly confused.

"I-i'm back?"
She uttered to herself; just then, she looked ahead of herself, seeing Steven; her eyes widened as she saw the eyes of Pink Diamond looking back at her.

"You've... You let me go? Why?"
Spinel questioned, slightly worried and confused at Steven's action.

"Four years ago, you killed my girlfriend! I'm going to shatter you for that."
He said in a horrifying calm tone, slightly worrying Spinel.

Spinel locked in and charged at Steven as she enlarged her fist, as she closed in, Steven quickly grabbed Spinel by the neck and slammed her into the ground. He put one foot on her left arm and the other on her right arm; there, he lifted her, stretching her arm out. He summoned his shields and slammed them down onto each of her limbs, trapping her.

"I lost a best friend, you lost a best friend, so-'"
Steven immediately covers Spinel's mouth, with a vein in his head.

"You are such a damn fool to think Pink would come back after hitting me with the rejuvenator!"
Steven said, shocking Spinel.

"What? You don't think I haven't picked up on that? A Rejuvenator, a weapon that can make Gem go back to how they were created; you used that on me to get Pink Diamondback. Amethyst, Garnet, Pearl, and you all got set back to how you were all made, but me? You set me back to where I could barely use my powers."
He said, Spinel stretched her neck out and wrapped around Steven.

Steven nonchalantly pushed a shield around his body and expanded it, forcing Spinel to give up, Steven grabbed Spinel by her pigtails.

"You are just the saddest, worthless, most disappointing Gem I have ever come across, and I faced plenty of Gems who all wanted me dead due to my mom. But you, you were going to kill off all the living things on the planet because my mom abandoned you? How pathetic can you be."
Steven said, making Spinel turn her head as she tears up, Steven forced her to look directly into his eyes.

"You have every right to be mad but to take your anger out on a bunch of innocent people, innocent animals, because of what PINK DIAMOND DID!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?"
Steven yelled, making tears go down on Spinel's face.

"You are just a washed-up, useless, emotional Gem; your purpose was to make her laugh, but what do I see? A damn joke! A Gem with no purpose other than being used as a floor mat."
He said, making Spinel's eyes widen with her pupils contracted.

Steven's shields began to teleport away as he let go of Spinel, starring her down as well.

"You're not even worth shattering, you can live your lonely, miserable life knowing your life purpose was wasted."
He said as he walked away.

"I'm sorry!"
Spinel yelled out, making Steven stop in place.

"I'm... I'm sorry for what I did, I'm sorry for ruining your happily ever after, I just-"

"You just act like you're the only one who suffered for her actions, her choices, her foolish decisions! I'm here son! I SUFFERED ALL BECAUSE OF HER!"
He exclaimed as he turned to face Spinel.

"I've been targeted by Gems that had beef against my mom because they think I'm her!  This has been happening since I was 12! You stood on a rock for thousands of years but I've almost died on numerous occasions! I'm not going to act as if your reasoning on hating her isn't justified, but you damn well best look at the person who's suffering from the crimes that she made."
He stated.

"I... I'm sorry for what I've done! Please, please let me make it up to you!"
Spinel begged, still having Steven looking at her with an annoyed look on his face.

"I... I don't want to be left alone again... Please... My Diamond."
She pleaded.

Steven walked over to Spinel, grabbed her by her pigtail, and pulled her in close, locking eyes with her.

"I grant your pitiful request, but if you dare to step out of line, you'll be abandoned once more!"
Steven made clear as he let go of Spinel's pigtail.

Spinel nodded quickly as she wrapped around Steven's arm. The pair walked back with Spinel holding Steven's arm tightly.
