Minghao felt his heart pounding as he rushed through the hospital halls. The sterile smell of antiseptic filled the air, but it was the sudden flood of memories—deja vu—that overwhelmed him more. His feet carried him faster, a mixture of fear and realization gripping him.
Everything was rushing back—the love he had for Junhui, the feelings he’d buried for so long. How could he have forgotten? He’d always loved Junhui. As the memories returned, so did the pain, the joy, the sense of belonging he had with the man waiting for him. But this time, it was different. This time, he knew he couldn't deny it anymore.
He burst into Li Na's hospital room, his breath caught in his throat. There she was, lying on the bed, her small chest rising and falling with the aid of an oxygen mask. His heart clenched painfully at the sight of his daughter, fragile yet so brave.
“Li Na,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he stepped closer.
Her small eyes flickered open beneath the mask, and she gave him a weak smile. Minghao’s tears flowed freely as he knelt beside her bed, gently taking her hand in his.
“Will you promise me that you’ll come back?” His voice trembled, his heart aching at the thought of losing her.
Li Na nodded, her little face filled with determination, even through her exhaustion.
Minghao smiled through his tears, gently brushing the hair from her face. “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
“Dancer,” she whispered, her voice muffled by the oxygen mask.
Minghao’s heart melted at her words. He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead as he stroked her hair. “Come back, and I’ll teach you the best dance ever.”
Her eyes fluttered closed, but a peaceful smile remained on her lips. Minghao stayed for a moment longer, holding her hand as if that small gesture could protect her from everything.

Stepping out of the room, Minghao saw Junhui pacing in the hallway, his face pale and eyes wide with distress. Jun looked up, meeting Minghao’s gaze, and Minghao went to stand beside him.
“Do you think our kid will come back safely?” Minghao asked quietly, his voice raw with emotion.
Junhui turned to him, eyes filled with tears, barely able to hold it together. His lips quivered as he nodded, his voice barely audible. “I hope so.”
Without hesitation, Minghao pulled Junhui into a tight embrace, and both of them broke down, their tears flowing freely. Junhui buried his face in Minghao’s shoulder, and Minghao leaned his head gently against Junhui's, their sorrow shared in silence.
“I wish…” Minghao whispered through his sobs, his voice filled with regret. “I wish I had loved you sooner… I wish I had married you. I wish I had given birth to Li Na.”
Junhui sucked in a sharp breath at those words, the pain and regret mirrored in his eyes. But as the moment settled between them, a sense of calm washed over Junhui. He smiled softly, pressing his lips against Minghao’s temple before pulling him closer.
“Me too,” Jun whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “But we’re here now.”
They stayed like that for a long while, holding each other, foreheads resting together as their hearts beat in sync. In that shared silence, it was as if all the regret, pain, and unspoken words dissolved, leaving only the love they had for each other.

One year later.
Laughter filled the air as Minghao, Junhui, and Li Na spent the afternoon with Seungkwan and Vernon at a beautiful outdoor café near the beach. The sun was shining, casting a golden glow over everything, and the warmth of the day matched the joy that radiated from their group.
Li Na ran around with Vernon, giggling as he chased her around, pretending to be a monster. Seungkwan, with his usual charm, was telling an animated story, making both Minghao and Junhui laugh.
As the day turned into evening, they watched the sunset together, the sky painted in shades of pink and orange. There was a peacefulness that settled over them as they sat on the sand, watching the waves gently lap at the shore.
After bidding their goodbyes to Seungkwan and Vernon, Minghao and Junhui stayed behind, letting Li Na rest under a beach umbrella. The silence between them was comfortable, but the air was thick with the weight of unspoken feelings.
Minghao turned to Junhui, his eyes reflecting the soft hues of the setting sun. “Thank you for… everything. For staying by my side.”
Junhui smiled softly, his hand finding Minghao’s. “I never left.”
They stood up together, walking a few steps closer to the edge of the water. The sound of the waves was calming, but the electricity between them was undeniable.
In the fading light, Minghao turned to face Junhui, their hands still clasped together. His heart raced as Junhui leaned in, their foreheads touching once more. This time, there was no pain, no regret—only love. Junhui’s breath was warm against his skin, and Minghao closed his eyes, savoring the moment.
Slowly, Junhui’s lips brushed against Minghao’s, the kiss soft but filled with everything they had been through. It was tender, intimate—a promise of all the love yet to come.
And as the sun dipped below the horizon, they held each other, knowing that this was only the beginning of their forever.
