Nick ran into her room, slamming the door shut as well as startling Luke who's in the kitchen.
"Um, Nick? You ok...?"
Luke knocks on the girl's door,
"Go away!"
'Oh no, don't tell me it's that time of the month,' Luke thought to himself.
"Hey, um, do you need some...Tea? Or, uh, chocolate?"
She didn't respond.
Instead of knocking again, Luke got a tray and made her some hot chocolate, chocolate waffles with whipped cream and m&m's, a meal that he prepped for her in the beginning of their living-ship.
"I'm coming inside," he warns, holding the tray carefully as he opens the door.
Luke entered the room and saw a curled up Nick on the bed, face stuffed against the pillow, sniffles coming out of it.
"Hey, hey, it's ok. Here," he sits down next to her on the bed, laying the tray on the nightstand.
"Look, there's hot chocolate the way you like it and your favorite waffles. I made sure to put whip cream on everything," he chuckles a bit, trying to lighten the mood.
Nick doesn't look up, head still in the pillow.
"Hey, it's uh, it's gonna be ok. It won't always be like this." He hesitantly placed his hand on her shoulder in a comforting way.
"I caught Mikey kissing another girl," she confessed quietly. Luke didn't know if he heard her right since the pillow muffled it.
'Ohhhh' Luke thought, now realizing what happened.
"Ugh, Mikey? Mikey Ross? That self claimed broadway baby? Never liked him."
No response.
"Look, kid. Boys, are jerks. We are. Why? I don't know. But uh, that Mikey sure is dumb for thinking he can find someone better."
Luke tried, he really did. He didn't know if
he was saying the right things or if he should even be there. Nick needed her mom not him.
"Ok well, I uh, I will be downstairs if you need me. I'll leave the tray, just in case you get hungry. And there's a baseball bat by my bed if you wanna cause some damage."
He stands up from the bed and walks out of the room.
Once he left, Nick lifted her head from the pillow and saw the tray.
She wiped her face and took a bite out of the waffles.
