1927s

"I'm going on a business trip; don't leave hell," Lilith said as she left. I held Charlie as she waved goodbye.

"We're so going to Earth," I said.
"Da da," Charlie said.

He opened a portal to one of his favorite cities, New Orleans. He shifted into his human form and gave Charlie one as well. They walked around the shops. He grabbed a paper, sat at a restaurant, and ordered some food. With one hand, I read the paper. A mass murderer. Interesting. I sipped the coffee.
"That is not how you hold a paper," a man's voice said. Looking at the man, he was hot. Like, panties-dropping hot.
"I normally hold it right, but my other arm is busy," I said.
"Well, then that's understandable. My name is Alec," he said.
"Luci," I replied.
"Interesting name," Alec remarked.
"The most interesting people have interesting names," I said. Charlie started to cry, so I got her a bottle out of my bag and put the newspaper down.
"Isn't that the mother's job?" Alec asked.
"If she were alive," I replied. "I use this on Earth to mess with the humans' emotions. They still hold the old values."
"Oh, I didn't... I'm sorry," he said.
"It's fine," I assured him.
I fed Charlie. My food arrived. "You can get something; I have more than enough money," I said.
"I already ate, and nothing here is to my liking," he replied.
Charlie burped and smiled at the man. "She is adorable. Looks like you," Alec said. He looked at the time and then at his watch. "Well, this was pleasant, but I hope to talk with you soon," he added. He walked away, something on his shoe—blood. It's all over him. He is the mass murderer. Well, I'll have to be friends with him; I think he is targeting me. I can charm my way off his radar. Charlie and I walk to the house we have here. I summon the cleaners, nanny, and paperwork guy. I hate paperwork and still have hellish paperwork. They are in human form, though. I get rid of the dust, go up to an empty room, and make it into a nursery. I lay Charlie down. "For a year, we get settled." "Sir, someone is here for you," the butler said.
"Thank you, regional," I said.
I closed my book. Charlie walked behind me, and Alec was in the doorway.
"You live in the forest estate," Alec said.
"Yes. What might I do for you?" I asked.
"Nothing business; I already have that established. You seem like good company," Alec said. "Well then, why don't we go to the garden and take a stroll?" I suggested.
"I'll go," Charlie said.
"Yes, you can come," I replied. We went through the McMansion.
"So much space! Do you have parties?" Alec asked.
"No, but I have a large family. If we talked, I would have enough space," I said. We walked past one of my art pieces.
"A knife in the Bible here. Very brave of you," he said.
"Well, I'm not a fan of the book; I prefer the real books about God and the Greek gods," I replied. "Also, there is no Lilith; Adam is nice. He is a misogynistic, egotistical ass. Has a great ass, but his personality gets in the way of the sexiness."
We end up in the garden; my pet snakes are doing their job as pest control. One of my biggest snakes comes up to me. Alec is shivering, palms sweating. "Someone afraid of snakes?" I said. "No. Just when a creature can eat me whole, I am," Alec replied.

"Go on; he is okay," I said. Leon goes to his mate.

As I walk, we get to the center. "An apple tree," he said.

"Yep." I grabbed one and handed it to him. He looked like I was going to poison him. I grabbed another, cut a slice for Charlie, and she happily eats it and climbs up the tree. I eat the rest.

"Mm. These are not from here," he said.

"Nope, you could say they are from heaven," I said, chuckling a little.

"You are an odd person," he said.

"So what brings you to New Orleans?" I asked. Will he tell me what his team is, or is he a psychopath?
"Well, my mom was murdered. I had family here, then I moved out of their place. I've got my own radio station going, and now I have a show about the mass murderer that they can't catch," he said. He is a smart one. The person who killed his mom was most likely his first victim; he moved here to a big tourist town, full of evil, covering his own murders.
