The days between Christmas and New Year's felt like a dream you didn't want to end. Somehow, against every instinct to stay guarded, you found yourself letting Jenna in a little more. Every touch, every laugh, every glance across the room was effortless, like you were the only two people in the world, cocooned in a bubble of warmth and anticipation.

You were scrolling through your phone on the couch when an idea struck. A few of your coworkers had mentioned a spot downtown where the New Year's celebration was supposed to be incredible, and for a split second, you pictured Jenna there with you, laughing and sharing in the excitement. Without giving it too much thought, you texted her.

"Hey, any plans for New Year's?"

A few minutes later, your phone chimed. Jenna's reply was a little too fast, almost like she'd been waiting for an excuse to talk to you. "Not yet... why? Got something in mind?"

You suggested the spot your coworkers had mentioned, feeling a bit more nervous than you wanted to admit. "A couple of friends told me it'd be fun. Wanna go with me?"

Jenna's response was immediate. "Sounds great! I'll invite a few of my friends too. It'll be fun."

With that, plans were set, and your nerves settled a bit. Just friends hanging out. Just you, Jenna, and a few others, enjoying the end of the year.

In the warm glow of Jenna's bathroom, laughter echoed between you as you fumbled with the small clasp on her necklace, your fingers brushing against her skin, sending a thrill down your spine. She tilted her head, smiling as your fingers lingered for a second too long.

"Are you planning to finish, or just keep touching me?" she teased, raising an eyebrow, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

You grinned, stepping closer. "Maybe both," you murmured, pressing a soft kiss just below her ear. Jenna's eyes fluttered closed, and she let out a breathy sigh, leaning back into you as your hands slipped around her waist.

"Y/N, we're going to be late if you keep this up," she whispered, but made no effort to move away.

"Maybe, but we'll make an entrance," you replied, trailing your lips down her neck. She shivered, turning to face you, her hands sliding up to your shoulders.

"Fine. But only if you keep up this charm all night," she smirked, leaning in to capture your lips, the kiss starting soft but quickly deepening, the taste of her lipstick mingling with the faint scent of her perfume. It felt so effortless, so perfect, that you almost forgot about the party altogether.

Eventually, after some last-minute touch-ups and shared glances in the mirror, you both headed out, hand in hand. When you arrived at the party, familiar faces from work and Jenna's friends filled the room, creating a lively and buzzing atmosphere. Jenna's hand stayed on the small of your back as you navigated the crowd, a grounding warmth that hadn't faded since earlier.

After a while, as you made your way to grab drinks, a woman from your office approached you, flashing a flirtatious smile. She leaned in close, her hand lingering a bit too long on your arm as she complimented your outfit, making it clear she wasn't just there to talk about work.

Jenna, who had been a few steps away, returned just in time to catch the exchange. Without hesitation, she slipped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer and flashing the woman a charming but unmistakably possessive smile.

"Hey, love," Jenna said, her tone casual but firm as she pressed a quick kiss to your cheek. "Who's this?"

"Oh, just a coworker!" you replied, fighting back a grin at Jenna's little show of possessiveness. The woman quickly picked up on the vibe, giving a polite nod before excusing herself.
