It was one of those days—the kind where everything just felt a little off. You'd come home from work, mentally drained, and the idea of doing much of anything, especially anything physical, felt like a stretch. You were halfway through scrolling aimlessly on your phone when you heard a knock on your door.
Jenna.
You hadn't been expecting her, but then again, Jenna didn't always play by the rules. When you opened the door, there she stood—hair tousled, eyes twinkling with a playful glint.
"Surprise," she said with a mischievous grin, leaning against the doorframe. "I figured I'd stop by... see what you were up to."
You stepped aside, letting her in, though you were too tired to match her energy. "Hey," you greeted softly, closing the door behind her. "What brings you here?"
She shrugged, walking past you, her eyes scanning your living room. "Just missed you," she said casually, though you could tell there was more behind her smile.
You followed her into the room, sinking back onto the couch. Jenna didn't waste any time. She kicked off her shoes and plopped down next to you, eyes roaming your face as if she were gauging your mood.
"You okay?" she asked after a beat, her hand resting on your thigh.
You nodded, managing a small smile. "Yeah, just... tired."
Jenna didn't say anything at first. Instead, she slid closer, her fingers tracing idle patterns on your leg. "I've got an idea," she said, her voice taking on a sultry edge. "How about we watch something... I don't know... fun?"
Before you could respond, she reached for the remote and started scrolling through your streaming service. You watched as she paused on Fifty Shades of Grey and shot you a playful look, raising an eyebrow.
"Really?" you chuckled, though it was half-hearted.
"Why not?" she teased, pressing play. "Maybe it'll get us both in the mood."
You shook your head, but let her do her thing. The movie played, and while Jenna snuggled closer, you found yourself drifting, your mind elsewhere, not really engaging with what was happening on screen. You felt her hand brush your arm, then slide lower, her fingers moving with intent. But even with her trying to set the tone, you just... weren't feeling it.
Jenna paused after a moment, realizing you weren't responding the way you usually did. She sat up, her playful grin undeterred. "Alright," she said, changing tactics. "How about a different approach?"
She hopped off the couch and disappeared into the kitchen. Moments later, she returned with a pint of ice cream, a spoon already in her hand. You watched as she sat back down next to you, making a show of eating the ice cream in the most suggestive way possible. The spoon slid past her lips, her tongue lingering over it as her eyes locked onto yours.
You couldn't help but laugh, shaking your head. "You're ridiculous."
Jenna grinned, clearly enjoying herself. "Ridiculously sexy, right?" she shot back, leaning in for emphasis, taking another slow bite.
But despite her best efforts, the spark just wasn't there for you tonight. And after a few more playful attempts, Jenna must have sensed it. She set the ice cream down and crawled into your lap, straddling you like she had done so many times before. Her arms wrapped around your neck, her lips just inches from yours.
"Not working, huh?" she whispered, her tone softer now, less teasing, more curious.
You sighed, resting your hands on her hips, but there was no heat behind the touch. "I'm just... not feeling it today, Jen. I don't know."
