The next morning, you were roused from sleep by a gentle nudge against your arm. You groaned softly, turning over and burying your face into the pillow. Another nudge followed, more insistent this time, but you stubbornly ignored it, determined to steal a few more minutes of rest.

Suddenly, a dead weight landed on your back, pulling a startled gasp from you. Your head shot up, ready to unleash a groggy curse on whoever was disturbing your sleep. But when your eyes met Jenna's mischievous grin, you couldn't hold back the smirk that tugged at your lips. You groaned and let your head fall back onto the pillow, muffling a laugh.

She was lying sprawled across your back like a victorious child on a jungle gym. "Your mom told me to wake you up... at all costs," she said, her voice dripping with mock seriousness. "So... here I am."

"You're lucky it's you," you mumbled into the pillow. "Anyone else, and I'd be in the crankiest mood all day."

She rolled off you and stood by the bed, waiting for you to move. "Come on, let's go downstairs. Everyone's already up."

You stayed put, gripping the blanket tighter around your waist. "I have no pants," you muttered, your cheeks warming as you realized how ridiculous you sounded. This was the same girl who had seen you in far less than just underwear. Still, you felt exposed under her teasing gaze.

Jenna's grin widened, and she crossed her arms. "Go ahead, then," she dared, her tone light but challenging.

You gave her a look, your blush deepening. "Fine, but turn around."

Instead, she leaned against the doorframe, clearly enjoying your flustered state. Rolling your eyes, you slid out of bed and grabbed your pajama pants from the chair. You could feel her gaze lingering on you, playful and unrelenting, as you hurriedly pulled them on.

"All set?" she asked, her teasing smirk never faltering.

"Yeah, yeah," you grumbled, brushing past her as you both headed downstairs.

Breakfast was a lively affair, the table filled with laughter and the smell of fresh coffee. Your sister was in rare form, her sharp eyes flicking between you and Jenna with an expression that could only mean trouble.

"So, Jenna," she began innocently, though the smirk playing on her lips betrayed her. "Did you enjoy waking up our grumpy sleeper here?"

The brunette shot you a quick glance, her dimples deepening. "Oh, absolutely. It was an adventure."

You nearly choked on your coffee, your face heating under your sister's delighted cackle. "Shut up and eat," you grumbled, shoving a piece of toast into your mouth to avoid further commentary.

But your sister wasn't done. "You know," she continued, looking between you both, "it's kind of cute how in sync you two still are. Like you've never been apart."

You could only glare at her, though the words stung a little, cutting too close to the truth. Jenna, however, just laughed it off, her smile softening when she caught your eyes.

It was a chaotic but warm morning, filled with teasing, inside jokes, and fleeting moments where Jenna's gaze lingered just a bit too long on you, stirring something in your chest you weren't ready to name yet.

Later in the morning, you and Jenna found yourselves lounging in the living room, the soft hum of conversation filling the quiet space. You stretched out on the couch, glancing over at her as she scrolled idly through her phone. Her presence was calming, a balm you didn't know you needed.

"Do you want to go out for lunch?" you asked, breaking the silence.

She looked up with a small smile, her eyes lighting up. "Sure, I'd love that."
