Ever since the wedding, you and Jenna had settled into an uneasy routine. The lines were drawn: friends with benefits, nothing more. Jenna had admitted her feelings, and while you didn't share the same level of intensity, you both agreed to keep it casual. For you, it was simpler to avoid anything too serious. For Jenna, it was a compromise, but one you both promised to respect.

Still, there were moments—little flashes—where you saw the tension building in her. You weren't naïve. It was obvious when Jenna's feelings got the better of her, no matter how much she tried to play it cool. Especially tonight.

When Jenna arrived at your place unannounced, as she often did these days, she didn't expect to see you looking so put together. Freshly dressed, hair done, and the scent of your perfume filling the room. She paused in the doorway, her eyes roaming over you with a look that was hard to miss.

"You look..." she started, her voice trailing off as she bit her lip. "Where are you going?"

You glanced at her reflection in the mirror, smirking as you adjusted the collar of your jacket. "Just going out."

"Out where?" Her voice was casual, but you could already sense the undercurrent—Jenna was fishing for details. She always did this when she felt like you were slipping just a little too far from her reach.

You shrugged, turning to face her. "Meeting some friends."

Jenna's brow furrowed, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Friends I know?"

"Not really. New people I've been hanging out with." You could see the flicker of jealousy in her expression, though she quickly masked it with a smirk. She always tried to keep it light, but moments like this betrayed how she really felt.

"New people, huh?" she said, walking closer, her voice taking on a teasing edge. "Anyone I should be worried about?"

You chuckled softly, shaking your head as you grabbed your phone and keys. "Why do you always ask like that? You're starting to sound jealous, Jen."

Jenna crossed her arms, standing in your way as you headed for the door. "I'm not jealous," she said, though the hint of pink on her cheeks gave her away. "I just want to know who you're hanging out with."

You raised an eyebrow at her, amused by the thinly veiled possessiveness in her tone. "Relax. It's just friends." You brushed past her, keeping your tone light, but Jenna's gaze followed you the whole way.

Without turning back, you paused near the door, glancing over your shoulder. "Want to come with me and find out for yourself?" you asked, teasing her.

Jenna's smirk widened as she uncrossed her arms. "Sure, why not?"

You laughed softly. "But don't make it weird," you added, shaking your head as you opened the door.

The two of you headed out, and you could already feel the weight of the night shifting between you. Jenna was acting more possessive than usual, and you weren't entirely sure how to feel about it. Ever since she admitted her feelings, these moments of jealousy had become more frequent, though she never directly addressed it.

When you arrived at the bar, it was buzzing with people, your friends already waiting at a table. You introduced Jenna casually, keeping the tone light, but you noticed the way her eyes flickered every time you laughed with someone else, especially if it was a woman.

As the night wore on, Jenna stayed close—closer than usual. She leaned against you when she didn't need to, her fingers tracing the line of your jaw when she whispered something in your ear. Her touches, once playful, felt more deliberate now, like she was marking her territory without saying it out loud.
