I think it's very early in the morning when a persistent noise jolts me out of my slumber. The bedroom is still shrouded in shadows due to the heavy curtains covering the large penthouse windows. I feel like I fell asleep moments ago. But I'm obviously wrong if the persistence with which something -someone- is abusing my eardrums is any indication.
I glance beside me. Jaelle as expected is already gone. She never lingers after our nights of passion. I don't remember ever waking up with her next to me. I shake my head and try to locate the source of the annoying sound.
I get out of bed and finally find my phone thrown on the armchair, under my jacket. "Who turned the volume to max?" I mumble as I finally answer.
"Where are you?" Jisung shouts in my ear. "Good morning to you too." I mutter. My voice comes out rougher than I expected. I don't remember shouting last night, though. We didn't indulge in anything unusal with Jaelle... Did we? I take a look artound the bedroom. Nothing seems out of place. Huh...
My inner musings are disrupted by that squeaky voice in my ear. "We had an appointment half an hour ago!" "We did?" I blink. "What time is it?" "11am!" "Why are you shouting?" "I have better things to do than wait for the mighty Lee Minho all morning!" "Then why don't you go do them?" I snap back grumpily. "You promised me brunch." This man... He will do anything for food. "I'll be there in half an hour. And before you start bitchin' again, you can tell me all about your new boy. I promise I'll pay attention." "Fine!" He literally hangs up on my face and I'm left staring at the phone screen in confusion.
I sleepily walk to the bathroom and step under the cold water jet in the shower. I need to wake up and be fully functional ASAP or else that squirrel will have my head chewed off. Sometimes he is worse than my mother.
As promised, I show up at the trendy café Jisung chose, half an hour later, dressed in casual fashion. I may not be a brand ambassador but I know how to dress. Yeah...
"You're late!" Jisung snaps the moment he sees me, waving at the waiter who comes to take our orders. He already has a huge cup of hot coffee in front of him. "I'll take one of these." I point to the coffee mug, still not ready to take off my sunglasses. Jisung huffs and orders half the menu before letting the poor waiter go.
Fortunately, my coffee arrives sooner rather than later and I enjoy the comforting aroma and taste of the freshly brewed Bolivian blend before that squirrel starts on me again.
"Where were you last night?" Jisung munches on his second toast when he decides to interrogate me. "I left early with Jaelle." "Oh?" He narrows his eyes. "Was it that kind of night?" "Shut up." He snickers. "I don't ask you what you do with your boys and girls." I mutter defensively, god knows why I'm feeling irritated right now.
