But he was the real thing and a force to be reckoned with.
And I surrendered without a fight."

🎵 Song suggestion: Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey 🎵
"Chan helped me heal in many ways, Minho. He really did help me. But some things leave deeper scars, scars that are not visible to the naked eye and no amount of vampire blood can make go away. When you grabbed me with force.." i flinch at that memory. "...I reacted instinctively and hurt you because now I have the power to fight back when I feel attacked." I open my mouth to protest but Hyunjin stops me with a light squeeze in our still entwined hands. "I know you didn't mean to hurt me." His eyes are filled with regret."That's why I'm deeply sorry that I reacted this way and hurt you instead."

As he falls silent, I stare at him just as quietly. My mind is filled with wild thoughts and images. Hyunjin is still watching me, patiently waiting for a reaction. His eyes are studying me carefully, but I can see nothing other than affection in his soft burgundy gaze.
Is he worried? Waiting for me to freak out? Does he think I won't be able to accept and come to terms with what he shared with me tonight?
I am certain he is trying to decipher my mood, the many emotions he sees flickering in my eyes. Because I stare back at him feeling so many things right now: horror, sympathy, love, pain and -alas!- jealousy.
But Hyunjin can read me like an open book, after all.
"Don't be jealous Minho. Me and Chan, we never felt anything more than kinship for each other. It is like I am jealous of Jisung. Should I be jealous of him?" His irises remain that soft burgundy with ruby undertones flickering within them. "It is you I'm in love with."
I feel a shiver run through me. His declaration is loud and clear. No room for misinterpretation.
Then why? Why does he resist me becoming like him?
I think the answer lies in his personal story and how he feels about his transformation. 500 years were not enough to ease the pain of his simple life being stolen away from him, his innocense.
God! His innocense...I knew I would regret it if I found out! I feel a sharp pain in my heart. I feel for him, for the boy he was.
I wipe the tears that have pooled in the corners of my eyes with the back of my hand. He continues to watch me with fondness. His eyes tell me everything I need to know: how much he loves me, how much he cares.
But why I want even more? I want him to want to spend an eternity with me. I guess I am selfish. So I ask again.
"But why don't you want me to become like you, Hyun..."
