I didn't even have a chance to catch my breath. As soon as we landed in Seoul, we were rushed out the back door, out of where Seo Changbin and his sleek Maserati were waiting, and into a private clinic to meet with the red-haired vamp, Chan -Dr Bahng Chan! Yeah...

He was already waiting for us along with my own doctor.

"Hyun, I'm okay." I try to protest as I am rushed for more exams and scans and bloodwork. "It was just a sunstroke." But I might as well be speaking to the deaf.

The results however confirmmy point. "See? There is nothing wrong with me."

"Then why did your eyes change colour?" He almost snaps. Chan puts a hand on his arm, grounding him. "Calm down, Jin." "Don't!" Hyunjin shakes his head. "This is my fault!"

Both Chan and I look at him exasperated. "How is any of this your fault?" I ask.

He looks at me, pain in his eyes. "If I haven't given you my blood..." "If you haven't given me your blood, I'd probably be dead, buried under the rubble." "You don't know that." He mutters. "I don't. But you don't know any different either!"

Chan nods in agreement. "I was already saying that. See, Jin?"

"I have a theory." My own doctor offers. We all turn to him. "I think you are in a transitional stage, Mr Lee, that was triggered by the prolonged sun exposure." "I agree with you, Dr Lim." Chan nods.

"So where does that leave us?" Hyunjin looks between them, in frustration. "He is not able to digest any blood but mine. What happens when, the next time he has a seisure or something, I am not around?"

"I think you know the answer, Hyun." I murmur softly. He looks at me, a multitude of emotions flickering across his face: denial, sadness, awe, pain... "Hyun..." I take his hand gently in mine. "I wanted this anyway." I can see he is fighting back whatever emotion is trying to take over him right now. "It will be alright babe." I whisper to him soothingly. "I'll be alright." He looks at the other two, who nod, then turns to me, sighing in resignation.

"Right!" I turn my attention to my doctor and Chan. "So, how are we going to do it?"

The days that follow are a chaos of paperwork and red tape, leading up to the "procedure" that will turn me into a vampire.

And now, here I am, lying on a comfortable chair with a nurse putting an IV in my vein, connecting my heart to a standard  patient monitor that will measure and display my vital signs.

Hyunjin gave me two units of his blood to drink before we started the process, even though Chan rolled his eyes and said it was absurd. Anyway I gorge myself on it, indulging my ever worrying vamp. I never thought I could stomach it but here we are. When the IV drips into my vein, my heart will slowly stop and then, if all goes well, it will start beating again as the vampire blood in me takes effect. It's a much cleaner and more clinical procedure that is state-sanctioned. Yes, there is such a thing. Remember, we are a society where vampires live among us and there are people who want to turn into one, each for their own personal reasons.
