Skateboard Practice

(This happens within the timeline that Kendall bonded with the Purple Energem and when the Aqua Ranger first shows up)

((Y/N)'s POV)

I was trying to learn to skateboard but was failing miserably. I was glad I bought elbow and knee pads even if they were a very bright colour and made me look like a fool. I always wanted to skateboard, so my dad gave me one before he died. It was sentimental to me, I didn't use the board for a couple months as I was terrified of ruining it. When I finally started using it my mum confiscated it, then sold it. Stating that skateboarding was for reckless teenagers and that I should focus on dresses and makeup like the rest of the girls. Then find a rich boy, marry him and give her loads of his money. I never did, but I didn't touch another skateboard until I moved out. From there I focused on my job, saving up money over the couple months I worked there and eventually purchased a skateboard. The only problem was I had no idea what I was doing. As a result I bought a helmet, elbow and knee pads, and then watched a couple videos on Youtube for beginners. They didn't help much when it came to learning balance though.

After falling for what felt like the hundredth time I grabbed my skateboard and stomped off to the nearest bench, thanking myself for choosing a more secluded place in the park to practise. I grabbed my water bottle from my bag, taking a couple gulps before sighing sadly. I didn't notice someone was observing me from afar.

(Chase's POV)

I watched the (H/C) girl flop onto the bench frustratedly. They started coming to the park more frequently recently, trying to go in a straight line on her skateboard only to wobble and fall. I admired her, despite falling down continuously everyday she came here she would get back up and try again. It was admirable, but it seems her spirits are starting to dampen. I sighed, holding my skateboard tightly before walking over to her. I decided to play it cool: walk past her, conveniently notice her skateboard, start a conversation, help her and then potentially ask her out in the near future. Couldn't go wrong. Except it could.

As I was walking past, I started panicking a bit more, eventually tripping over right in front of her when I started over thinking. "Are you alright?" I heard her say as she rushed over to me. Shoot! this was not supposed to happen. "Yeah I'm fine," I reply quickly, standing up just as fast. This caused me to stumble into her and we both toppled over into the grass. "I'm so sorry!" I say quickly, throwing myself off her and back onto my feet. She laughed loudly, sitting up. "Here," I say, offering a hand to her bashfully. She takes it and I pull her back to her feet. She brushes herself off, still giggling occasionally while I look down at my feet awkwardly. "I-I see you have a skateboard," I say, kicking myself afterwards. "I see you do as well," she replies, a big smile on her face. "U-uh, do you know how to skateboard, you have a lot of protection on but I don't want to assume," I say, still stuttering slightly. "I'm learning, yes, but not very well," she replies, sighing a bit as her smile drops. "I can teach you if you want, you know, as an apology for falling on you," I offer after taking a deep breath. "Sure, maybe having an in-person teacher will help," she agrees, smiling at me before jogging over to pick up her skateboard.

The next couple of weeks went by quickly, I had to keep my secret of being the Black Ranger from her but apart from that I told her everything and she did the same. I helped her with her balance while on the board, holding both her hands the first couple of times which caused my heart beat to increase significantly. She was learning quickly now she had clear instructions, even being able to turn and go in a straight line by herself. She technically didn't need me to teach her anymore but she insisted I teach her tricks as well, and who was I to refuse. I was already forming an excuse to spend more time with her, this just made things easier. We eventually traded numbers and started hanging out without our skateboards. Everytime I hung out with her my feelings grew, and I noticed she started blushing around me which got my hopes up.
