Birthday Wish

((Y/N)'s POV)

I had been Kendall's assistant since before she found Keeper and started tracking the Energems so she felt it was only right I knew about it so I could cover for her if she was called away. That happened on occasion of course but it wasn't usually when an important event was held. I had joined the missions of finding Chase and was even part of Koda's discovery and release. We had assumed we would have to search the entire Earth many times before we would find the other Energems, only for 3 of them to quite literally show up out of the blue. Kendall was a little mad over Shelby's blatant disregard of her duties and the fact she hitched a ride when she wasn't supposed to but suppressed it when she noticed the girl had bonded to the Pink Energem. While I wasn't amused with her at first I was grateful that due to her recklessness we had gained two more Energems from the dig.

It also brang Tyler Navarro to me. A charming explorer who was on a mission to find his missing father. His resilience and bravery were admirable qualities but that wasn't what drew me to him. It was his playful and caring nature towards others no matter the situation, he was there when his friends needed him and was able to lift their spirits easily. It wasn't long before I was crushing on the young man, Kendall noticed before I did. She noticed how tense I got when Tyler had to go into battle, how I barely managed to stay on my chair when he got hurt. When they returned relatively unscathed and alive and how I relaxed instantly when he entered. She, of course, found it highly amusing. To others it might seem weird to see a smile on the usually serious woman but I was one of the rare few who were lucky to see it.

It was my birthday and Kendall had closed the museum early so that we would have the dino cafe to ourselves. She had insisted that we didn't do it in the base because it wasn't meant for parties. We were all gathered around a birthday cake, candles lit as they sang Happy Birthday to me loudly. "Make a wish!" Shelby yells encouragingly. I pretend to think for a second before blowing out every single one. I wish to gain the courage to ask Tyler out. I opened my eyes and smiled at everyone before suddenly everything went dark. What I mean by that was the lights were turned off, I was still very much conscious and so were the others as I could hear them asking about the lights. Just as I was about to open my mouth to make sure everyone was okay a hand covered it and grabbed my right arm, two more grabbing my left. I kicked, struggled and tried to scream to alert the others but to no avail as I was dragged out the cafe.

I was dragged to the middle of the forest where Wrench, who I often called a knock off tinman, was standing with Fury and a couple more seaweed heads. "Tie them up!" Fury yelled and I was dragged towards a tree. Wrench came over with an alien looking rope and wrapped my wrists tightly in it, securing me onto the tree. "Are you sure about this, if Master Sledge finds out-" Wrench starts worrying like he usually does. "We won't fail him this time, they care for this weakling. If we threaten their life they have to give up the Energems!" Fury yells, cutting off the worry-wart.

(Tyler's POV)

(Y/N) was gone, kidnapped on her own birthday from right under our noses and now we couldn't find them. Miss Morgan and Riley were trying to locate their communication device but were having trouble. Miss Morgan said that it meant she was in a remote environment or she was underground. That did nothing to soothe my worries. Ivan tried to console me, in his old knight like way. It was nice to know that he cared, even if we hadn't exactly sorted out our differences yet.

A beeping from Miss Morgan's laptop caught my attention and I looked over. "Got their location, they're in the woods near the cave Tyler found his Energem," she reports and we instantly spring up to leave. Ivan hitches a ride with Koda as he hadn't quite managed to figure out how to use a motorcycle just yet. When we arrive we quickly hop off our rides and start sneaking around, I start to think she'd been moved before hearing Fury's loud roar of annoyance. Wwe move towards his complaining, seeing (Y/N) tied to a tree and Fury kicking up dirt as he paces the small clearing. Wrench is stumbling over his words slightly, trying to calm the constantly angry big cat down but it only seems to make him more mad. "Master Sledge will be here soon then we can take her to the ship and deliver a transmission to the rangers about what the trade will be," Wrench says, shifting on his feet nervously. "I want to do the trade now, where are those wretched rangers!?" Fury screeches out, delivering a sword slash to a nearby tree.

"We have to get the lady/lord out of there safely," Ivan comments quietly, surveying the scene. "How mate? I doubt Fury will go far from them even when he's having a temper tantrum," Chase replies, looking uncertain. "I'll distract Fury, you guys get (Y/N)," I state quietly, leaving no room for arguments as I rush around the bush we're hiding behind and start blasting at the angry cat. He takes cover behind a tree and my friends rush over to (Y/N), Chase taking on Wrench as Koda and Shelby deal with the vivex. "You stupid ranger, I have your friend!" Fury roars in anger as I block a hit with my dino steel. "Not anymore," I remark, noticing (Y/N) running from the scene. Fury roars again and charges at me, Ivan joining me in the fight.

((Y/N)'s POV)

Riley told me I needed to leave the fight and to take one of the dino-morph cycles back to the museum where Miss Morgan would check over me. I complied, knowing I would only get in the way. That didn't stop me from looking over at Tyler who fought the wretched cat bravely, he had a weird angry focus in his battle that he didn't normally have while fighting. I didn't have time to ponder it though so I turned my head back around and started running towards where Riley said their motorcycles were.

(Timeskip)

After Miss Morgan checked me over everyone swarmed around me to make sure I was okay, after many reassurances they finally backed off to go do their own thing. Well everyone except Shelby. "You know Tyler was really worried about you," she says, hinting at something with her tone of voice. "He was?" I ask, slightly shocked and eager to learn more. "Mhmmm, he even rushed in to save you from Fury all by himself," she continued, smirking at me with knowing eyes. "And you want me to go find and confess to him," I huff out with a laugh, looking over at her in amusement. "I mean you could do that if you wanted," Shelby replies playfully with a smirk. "I'll go hunt him down then," I state with amusement, getting up off the bench and walking towards the exit.

I found the man packing up the cafe, a somewhat solemn expression on his face as he cleaned off the tables and placed the chairs on top of them. "Tyler, can we talk?" I ask, somewhat hesitantly. I catch the male's attention as he spins around quickly, seeing it's me and relaxes his expression into a soft smile. "Of course, I was just cleaning up the cafe," he agrees, pointing to the last two chairs he had left to lift. I walk over, sitting in front of him with a small smile as I feel heat appear in my cheeks. "What did you want to talk about?" Tyler asks softly, gazing at me gently. "Shelby told me you were very worried when I was kidnapped," I start, immediately he starts stuttering. "W-well yes you're a dear friend to me afterall," he stutters, voice losing its confidence over time as he looks down bashfully. "Glad to know the feeling is reciprocated," I state with a teasing smile.

"What?" he asks softly, confused. "Whenever you go out to battle those monsters, I worry for all of you. But I especially worry for you," I explain, looking down briefly before looking back into his eyes. "Really?" he questions, a hopeful gleam in his eyes. "Really," I assure before continuing bashfully, "I have loved you for a while now, it would be foolish to not worry about you." Both of us are blushing madly at my confession but Tyler has a soft smile on his face. "I'm glad you feel the same way," he states softly. He places a finger under my chin, hiding my face back towards him before kissing me softly.
