"What We Thought Was Safe"

We built our fortresses of light,
Wove our lives in careful strands,
Each door we locked, each path we walked,
Safe beneath our unseen hands.

We whispered truths, exchanged our fears,
Believing we were out of sight-
Behind the glass, behind the walls,
Where only silence touched the night.

We crafted shields from codes and screens,
Trusting them to guard our name,
As if the darkness could not reach
The place where we withdrew our flame.

Yet in the shadows, always there,
A silent watcher tracks our steps,
Following through every door,
Gathering what we thought was kept.

And as we live, so unaware,
The walls we built begin to fade-
Until the moment comes too clear,
When every lock is fully laid.

Then, in the end, we finally see,
That all along, they watched, they knew-
Each private thought, each secret kept,
Was never truly ours to lose.
